Your "we Serbs" must be an example of using the "me, myself, and I" principle to mean 3 people. Because I am not seeing anywhere that you are speaking for the Serbian people. Maybe some of the Serbs who actually live, work and play in other countries and want to pretend to be "Serb nationalists"! But in the last elections, the parties that are against a European future got what, 7-8% of the votes?

We Serbs look forward with anticipation to the fools in the EU blocking *all* chapters for EU membership forever! The Serbian people do not want to become a German-EU-NATO colony so don't waste your time or money bribing our leaders any more. If you do manage to get some lame-duck illegitimate Serbian "leader" to sign any kind of membership in the EU, the people of Serbia will rise up and rip that pact to shreds. There is no amount of money that can buy the Serbian people... you might be able to buy the leaders of the day, but we will remove them as soon as you do it. So hedge your bets, block all the chapters now and go home to your fellow slaves and make sure to lock yourselves up inside your corrupt empire so that none of you awake in the night, come to your senses and try to flee the sinking ship that you are sailing upon.

Good night EUrope, you have sold your souls to the US military-industrial complex and you won't be able to buy your souls back until you pay in the blood of your innocent sons who you are planning to send to their deaths against the brave defenders of Russia, China, India and the rest of the uncolonized world.

It is really up to the government where they focus their attention. Either on the only part of the world that is consistently declining, or focus on the countries of the future.
(Ari Gold, 18 November 2014 19:30)

that would be a sensible policy. Not sure why the government would want to focus on a declining country like Russia, with population in decline, with a currency in free fall and with influence in the world reduced to almost nil!

didn't burst my bubble and the country is Laos not Loas and they are Laotians. But anyway you are partly right in that there are more controls placed on money being sent to higher corrupt countries such as Serbia but no there is not a restriction on all that they must use it to spend on products and services in the donor countries. China has done that with Serbia, loaned the money with the restricition that they use Chinese construction companies and then repay the loan and interest. But a large part of money donated to Serbia may be earmarked for certain purposes but with Serbia taking control of the projects with of course the usual "fees" deducted by officials.

My father served 4 years in the Yugoslav army from 1945 to 1949 in Kosovo and Macedonia and decided to leave his country when he saw what Tito was letting in from Albania in their thousands. This same Tito then gave the Albos free water electricity and even became a “godfather” to the tenth Albanian child in the family.
How sad it is that you have to go onto a Serb-based media site but then Albanians may not yet have electricity let alone a newsagency.

The help from Russia and China, (don't hear much about the others) are usually not in the form of grants or donations(as from the west) but more loans with interest and investments which flow back to their own countries.
(one born every minute, 19 November 2014 11:17)
Hate to burst your bubble but today no country gives out cash. That did happen in the 1960s, but now the donor country allocates a certain figure for aid and the recipient country can only spend that “money” at a specified place so in affect you buy materials from the donor country. For example, a bridge built in Loas was funded by Australian dollars, but all the material and construction company was Australia and the Loatian leadership never saw a penny of that money. They changed the system to avoid theft.
Take a close look at Ukraine. The west never “gave” anything to Kiev, but they did provide $1 billion in loans.

True Serbia does not HAVE to join anyone, and Serbia should forge closer relationships with ANY country that would be mutually beneficial. However, theres an old saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too". Serbia cannot claim to want to join an organization no matter which it is and take their money, and then be a rogue state too. Joining a group means adopting their principles and following their protocols. As a member one can attempt to change those that they do not agree with but it has to be a consensus.
As far as the BRICS goes, there is nothing wrong with the group, it is simply a group of nations that have what is called "emerging economies" and they are looking for ways to exude their influence in a world that has been dominated by the western economies. Not saying you as I don't recall your comments but many of the Serb posters here think that Serbia fits into that category and have to option to join the group. That simply is not the case, who knows in 50 years maybe, but today no.
So yes Serbia can align relationships with BRICS countries but before they abandon their European pathway, they and you and others need to realize the consequences. There is going to be a huge drop in influx of money. The help from Russia and China, (don't hear much about the others) are usually not in the form of grants or donations(as from the west) but more loans with interest and investments which flow back to their own countries.

Considering Serbia's EU membership is slated for around 2020, I'd like to think Merkel and the EU would have thrown Ukraine under the bus and made a deal with Russia by that point for peripheral issues concerning Serbia to remain as such.

As far as BRICS goes, have you noticed that not one of the member countries have even hinted that Serbia should join their ranks, but all the gun-ho Serb nationalists seem to think that they are all begging for Serbia to come in and show them how things are done?
(one born every minute, 18 November 2014 14:36)

Why exactly does Serbia need to join any organization? Obviously Serbia does not fit into BRICS, but that does not mean that Serbia cannot deepen individual relations with those countries. China signed a military deal with Serbia just yesterday, I have always called for Serbia to create conditions for greater relations with India as well.

It is really up to the government where they focus their attention. Either on the only part of the world that is consistently declining, or focus on the countries of the future.

The Serbian Government buckled under pressure and acted against Serbia's interest by delaying the South Stream. When Vucic allowed this delay, he did it without demand for anything from Europe, and now the European Union is confident that the Serbian government will capitulate once again. Brussels has absolutely nothing to lose because they do not think of Serbia as a potential partner, but rather a future vassal state.

The Idea of vassal states is the true value the EU places on sovereignty. They want to run countries they have not been elected in. The European Union leaves business for last and that is why they will fail. Serbia is being asked to sacrifice for European diplomatic failures, and if they do not, Europe will sanction Serbia. The government of Serbia will reveal its face in its response to these sanctions.

Oh no breaking news, the world's most declining region the EU is not going to allow Serbia to get closer to its ever receding club. Today every part of the planet is economically growing except for the EU. The Inuits and penguins in Antarctica have better means of growing their economy than the EU does. Serbia should get the hell out of this path towards joining the EU and offer better conditions for Western companies to relocate their business to Serbia by offering competitive wages and tax codes. Things that Serbia could never do within the EU.
