ICj, unfortunately Russia disagrees with you. A debt is a debt and has nothing to do with the Russian-Serb relations.
(Daniel, 4 November 2014 16:55)

Who told you I disagree with what you stated above?! I've said for a long time that like all international relations, the relations between Russia and Serbia are also based on interests; there is no "friendship" or "brotherhood" in international relations - there are only interests and a debt is a debt that needs to be paid.

Unfortunately, the most patriotic of Serbs in these forums had a different and more romantic view of the Russia-Serbia relations. But it is great to see that now even the most patriotic of Serbs finally embraced the view that debt is debt despite the so-called "brotherhood". Apparently the most patriotic of Serbs would rather have Serbia pay $200M than voice any sort of discontent for Russia - and, yes, I do mean "the most patriotic of SERBS" :)

Thanks Boom, and I fully agree with you. I am aware of the fact that Ari Gold and alike do not represent what Serbs feel like and how they think, but also know that Serbia never went though a reflective cleansing process like we did after the war. This is desperatly needed, and the political elite as well as the media so far failed to get this process started. THE same applies to Kosovo as well as all other Balkan countries, but in Serbia this problem is the worst. As long as governments in the Balkans play the nationalistic card things won't get any better, but as I said, Serbia tops them all.
It could all be so much easier if these politicians and the media would look at the way handled that subject in Germany. I am not saying that it was perfect, but we at least were able to make sure that 95% or more of the population realze what really happened during the horrible Nazi nightmare, what was done in the name of GErmany to innocent people all over Europe. For as long as that is not achieved in the Balkans future wars can not be ruled out, and that makes it worth to even put up with all the tasteless personal attacks.

@Willi Pfaff
Not all Serbs are like Ari Gold, raute, icj, peggy etc. who are die hard Milosevic fans.
But we have many, and our society is very polarized and fragile because most Serbs still believe that we were victims of history and didn’t do anything wrong at all. This is made worse by the economic situation.
Our media never shows anything but injustices done to us. We never went through the same soul searching Germany went after WWII , and fascist nationalism is still alive and prospering here.
Nationalist Serbs consider Albanians worse than animals, this way our crimes in Kosovo look less horrible.
It frightens me that in the current atmosphere, another Milosevic might come along and destroy our country for good. It frightens me even more when English speaking Serbs don not have a more developed argument than the blind nationalistic propaganda.
That is why it is so important to develop economic ties as the only hope to bring lasting peace to the region. Not only our economic situation will improve, but we will get to know each other and will discover that after all we are much more alike than different.
Reminds me of this joke of an Italian and German guy fighting over who is better Goethe or Dante, and after they beat each other to death, just before dying, the Italian guy says : I don’t regret dying for Dante , I just wish I had read him. Well the German says, I never read Gothe either. So it goes between Serb and Albanians.

I do not know where you get the idea that I am old and ready to die? Besides your prejudice remarks, I am 59, healthy, and in good shape, and everybody in my family lived well up into their 90's, so my chances to live another 40 years are high, and i might outlive you.

I fought fascism my entire life, no matter where i see it, and I am am a reflective thoughful and inteligent person that is not familiar with the concept of hate like you display it every time you write here. I fight against facism because the country I was borne in displayed the worst outbreak of that human nighmare concept in history. I am very well aware of that, because I can reflect on things and put them into perspective. Well, You can't, otherwise you would not argue the way you do, and realize like most people, at least in the west, that Serbia comes in second when you look at the recent European history. You simply deny any serbian wrongdoings in the Balkan conflicst of the 90's, well, even worse, you think they had the right to do what they did.

The nazi dinosaur in this case is you, not me. Had you lived in the 30's you would be one of Hitler's blind followers and justify his crimes against humanity, just like you justify Milosevic's cimes.

Why arn't people imigrating to Russia when it is so wonderful, why arn't refugees trying to go there? They certainly prefer to go and live in places like Western Europe, EU, or North America. All the stupid talk about Russia overtaking the west and the end of the EU is redicules, and shows how dumb and brainwashed you guys are.
(Willi Pfaff, 3 November 2014 17:42)

Nazi dinosaur, nobody has a problem with Western society. Serbs seamlessly integrate into Western society without any problem at all. This can't be said for mass Muslim immigration into Europe. What Serbs have problems with is the racist and imperialist policy your governments have towards Serbia and the Balkans. But the thing is, most ordinary Germans, Americans, Brits etc. do not share the kind of venomous, foaming-at-the-mouth hatred that your governments and you Nazi dinosaur share towards Serbia.

It wont be Russia that destroys the EU. The EU is doing a much better job at that by themselves. The status-quo and further "integration" and "harmonization" between EU memberstates is all that is needed for the EU to fall apart. It's literally happening before our very eyes, old man. If you cannot see it, maybe you are getting senile.

Tell me what is it ? Your outer color matters not much for me though to tell the truth I prefer the white skins. Serbia is the biggest and most influential country in the balcans which have been shown numerous times through the years. This has nothing to do with how influential Serbia is or isn´t, this is 100%tied to the privatization of NIS, dont comment on something that you dont have a clue about.
(Daniel, 3 November 2014 16:27)

Unfortunately Russia disagrees with you. If Serbia were really the most influential country in the Balkans, Russia would pay much more than $200 million to Serbia so that it could control the Balkans. But obviously Russia thinks that Serbia's friendship is worthless to help Russia's influence in the Balkans. Now if Russia does not have a clue about Serbia's great influence in the Balkans, then please feel free to educate Russia :)

So you who are claiming to be Serbian on the internet offers understanding for the rabid Albanian violence against the Serbian population on your unproven, ridiculous belief that "Slobo drove 2 million Albanians out of Kosovo"

a.) There have never been 2 million Albanians ever living in Kosovo-Metohija, though since 1945 the communist gov't allowed in hundreds of thousands and gave them money to build/buy houses.

b.) Serbia would have never had the capacity to deport that many people.

In fact, not even the anti-Serbian Hague Tribunal has accused Serbia of such a crime. No, the only time such hysteria was ever fabricated was on CNN and BBC in order to drive Western opinion into supporting the illegal and immoral bombardment.

In Bosnia Western media said a million Muslims were being slaughtered by "Serbian thugs" to get the demonization campaign going. The Hague says 100, 000 total civilians were killed about 67, 000 of those being Bosnian Muslims and not even all of them were at the hands of Serbs. Croats fought for independence in Bosnia too.

What was said about Serbs in the 90s were complete and deliberate lies. The people telling the lies know full well too. The other sides were no boy scouts:

Have you spent most of your time on Milosevic’s payroll and are now unemployed?
I got a job for you if you are motivated. Your English is good, so I would expect your logic and argumentation to be above the average Serb.
Why are you then here pandering to nationalistic propaganda?
Albania is a separate country , it did not take Kosovo from Serbia, actually Albania has zero influence to what happens in Kosovo. The truth is that no one had heard of Kosovo until Slobo drove 2 million people out of the province. We have no one to blame but ourselves.
Do you have any evidence about the 50 houses burned down?
Why are you leaving out the Albanians businesses we vandalized inside our own country?
Is visual or verbal provocation a reason for physical violence in a civilized society in your opinion?
The fact that UEFA gave us the victory shows how well disposed the European opinion is toward us despite all we did in our recent history and how bad the Albania’s reputation is in Europe.
Had we done this to another country like Italy or France (beating up the players) no matter how big the provocation, we would be expelled immediately from the championship.
Remember when Zidane hit Materazzi on the field, he got the red card no matter how big the provocation was.

Really?! That's why is hard to find a single country supporting Russia's actions in Ukraine ?

Russia is weaker from economic point but we step by step become a moral leader of the world. Many countries that are still in the American sphere of influence follow our clinch with a hope that Russia can withstand the pressure. Then many will link us openly.

Yeah, sure! Take for example the Ukrainians, Russia's Slavic brothers... Even though they are paying and are going to pay a price for defying Putin, they are willing to pay it just to avoid being aligned with Russia. Russia's moral leadership in the world is close to nil!

Avni, I've looked deep into your writings here on b92 and I saw your soul, and it's good. And so is Nikolle's,
Mirel's, ICJ's, Ian's, and many other Albanians that I've insulted with some of my cruel, insensitive jokes. It was my intention to reveal truths by poking fun at my subjects. We all need to learn to see our own shortcomings, and learn to laugh at ourselves. When we do, it's a lot easier to forgive ourselves, and others as well. This life is not to be taken so seriously. The challenge is to stay positive and to continue to love one another even when things appear hopeless.

The Truth:

I cannot emphasize enough my liking and respect for your president Jahjaga. Looking at photos of her breaks my heart when I see the pain in her posture and her eyes. Regarding Thaci, I've walked in his shoes many times, and I don't see myself as a lesser sinner than him.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness from those that I've hurt and insulted during our exchanges, as it would benefit us greatly beyond our understanding. And I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know, that for reasons I can't mention here, you Albanians have a special, permanent place in my heart.

For every person that dies as a result of Putin cutting off gas supplies, he should be tried on manslaughter charges.

The albino pigmy white boy doesn't know yet, that if this article is true, Russia lost Serbia's friendship forever. If he cuts more, he would be lucky if one post-1918 Russian monument remains intact in Serbia.
Serbs stayed loyal to Russia through thick and thin, like any true, loyal, and honorable friend would have who had been helped when in need, and now the yoke and the burden that brought Serbia practically to her knees has been lifted, and Serbia is FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST!!! Thank God almighty she is free at last to do and to go wherever she pleases without a guilty conscience and false hopes.

Last week I read that some Russian, cheap con artist, low-life-commie-scumbag manpig called my Commander in Chief a brown boy. That manpig doesn't know that if I heard him in person that I would've slapped him so MFen hard he'd have caviar rolling down his legs, "then I would throw the perpetrator over my shoulder, slam him onto his back on the floor behind me, place my boot on his face and ask "What was that you were saying?" before I saw him scurry away sniveling to his sister's for a clean pair of Y-fronts".
And for sure Rote, if you are reading, I guarantee you, that I would've been the one standing upright and not you!!!

Listen to Boom everybody, whoever he might be. He means well.

P.S. Please forgive me Lord, and bless the pygmies, albinos, midgets, and manpigs. Amen!

With my poor English I do not quite catch you but I like the mode of talking instead blaming one another. What I really mind in your post is the idea as if Russia is a lonely state. We are definitely not ! According to Gallup last month 24% of peoples worldwide saw threat in the USA and only 2% in Russia. We both know where those 2% live. Dozens of countries take Russia as a friendly state including most of our newborns. Russia is weaker from economic point but we step by step become a moral leader of the world. Many countries that are still in the American sphere of influence follow our clinch with a hope that Russia can withstand the pressure. Then many will link us openly.

I guess Putin underestimated the level of influence of the USA in Europe and the level of our dependence on the Fed controlled world financial system. Another place the US to have a temporary success is Ukraine where they managed to arrange an anti-Russian hysteria to consolidate the nation. But I never doubted that Ukraine will be Russian next spring. I guess Russia is ready to pay here a much higher price than they think in NATO. Also Russia surprised the choco-boy with our resistance in mass media. US failed to paint us black as they once did it with the Serbs then the Iraqis , the Libyans ect. What I really like is that the US has no temptation to use force against Russia. What I dislike is that both sides try to finally undermine one another.

How is Putins visit to Serbia in any way tied to the rabid behavior of Albanian ultra nationalists and provocative messages (I'd call them warnings), right in the middle of Belgrade? I believe those two things are completely separate issues. The drone is just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to Albanian violence as more than 50 Serbian homes have been vandalized or in some cases burned to the ground only since the drone provocation. You must have your head buried in the sand.

As far Russia goes, there are obviously cultural and religious ties there with the Russian nation that will always exist. However no government on this planet is a "brother" or "friend" to Serbia, Russia included. Everyone is out for their own selfish interests. The Russian government wants gas payments, the EU wants "harmonization" of foreign and internal policies that match the dictat and demands of the Brussels unelected central planners.

Both are pretty unfriendly, I guess. But Moscow wanting payments on what is owed seems a little more reasonable than what the EU demands. Maybe Vucic's new Western friends can pay war reparations to Serbia for the illegal and immoral bombardment in the 1990s and that can be used to pay off the Russians. Problem solved.

“The money is definitely not the reason”

• Exactly ! Especially after Putin had promised to increase the investments up to USD 10 Bln. in the years to come. And though Gazprom is very strict about the payments even inside Russia it seems that the real reason of supplies cut lies in the political sphere. And it cannot be a secret for long. I guess Russia may disapprove the middle-of-the-road politics that once was good for Yugoslavia … Anyway both sides will have explain things to their peoples as they none of them can afford such a development.

Exactly. With a small difference: If you be a good ass licker for Putin, your country will get some favorable pricing, like Ukraine got under Yanukovich, or like Belarus with its glorious president. And I don't mean the famous 'favorable gas prices' Gazprom granted to Serbia which were higher than the ones on the spot market.

Besides that, of course the gas and oil has to be payed, no matter what price was agreed, otherwise the supply will be cut - this is only normal and fair.

I went to this here "prayer gathering" http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/202536-player-gathering-houston-tx-18feb13/page__st__240 and I met me some super cool Serbs with whom I still keep in touch.
One them was pretty witty and funny so we hit it off right away and bonded. I told him that I started posting
on B92 awhile back to comfort Serbs and to teach and demonstrate the power of truth without wavering in all aspects of life, including politics, CNN's evil brand of journalism, and the Catholic church.

I asked him if he had any funny Serb material that I might could use to tickle some ribs while I sneak in few words of the Good News, and I was kindly obliged. Going through the list and searching for the one that would best represent your little "chest out-belly in" idol, I came up with this one: Putin has a soul the size of a spider's texticles.

"Chest out-belly in . . . a nation capable of this injunction as a general rule is in great danger," . . .
I read that on page 17, in "Hara The Vital Centre of Man", by Karlfried Graf Durckheim.

I recommend this book to all Albanians and Russians, especially to their leaders, as the two of you are about to be the two loneliest countries on the planet, along with North Korea, with no friends as immediate neighbors or any kind of friends and neighbors. Isolation is a bitch, and promotes rot in the minds of both young and old.

Late, but better than never. I hope the secret deals will finally be unveiled to the public. Everyone with a sane mind knows that there must have been some other reason to sell NIS for some peanuts without a transparent public tender to Gazprom and people who benefited from this deal.

This is not the real issue, bet on it!! Two hundred million is peanuts if you consider Russia's wealth and energy resources. In addition, Serbia is the only friend Russia has in the Balkans. Russia has written off a bigger sum with Cuba only to have its presence in the area. Russia's relation with Serbia is worth a ton of money more than the $200 million. It's to Russia's advantage that Serbia lean towards the east. Should Russia repel its friendship with Serbia ,and should Serbia lean towards the west, it would be detrimental to Russia as it would lose all influence in the Balkans, and that my friends, is worth more than $200 million.

What I think is that USD 200 Mln. is not the sum Russia and Serbia will spoil their relations for. There must be something that we don’t know yet. Also I know that every Russian consumer to stop the payments will be cut from the pipe in a month. So I prefer to wait for the details before making any judgments. Yes it is a political step so the final solution was by Putin. But don’t forget that we have Energy Minister of the Serbian origin and he must be one of the few who gives recommendations to Putin. Also I think the moment is not good for hiding the problem because of the long lasting Russian-EU talks over the transit and the USD 5,3 Bln. that Ukraine already owes Gazprom. The problem has no good solutions because Ukraine is a bankrupt state. They will take gas for USD 385 per cubic meter while their internal price for the consumers remains USD 90 … Meanwhile Russia took a tough position and it may look as double standards if we close our eyes at the Serbian debt. Well I don’t know what’s going on and I hate to speculate over the things that are outside of my understanding. So I prefer to wait for the mist to go …

I don’t care how it sounds, I employ 14 people in the middle of Belgrade and pay them decent salaries. 60% of what we make goes to Albania and about 20% to Kosovo, the rest is sold here, so maybe I am biased in what I say. I have been in Albania on several business trips and don’t find them to be different from us. We are all just Balkan people. I have also been to Russia and we maybe brothers by heritage, but our lifestyle and mentality is closer to Albanians and other Balkan peoples then Russians. There is nothing wrong with being economic rivals, that is how progress is made, all countries are economic rivals.
We have to beat them with economic growth just as we should have beaten their football team by scoring 3 goals in the first 30 minutes, rather than by hooligans on the field.
You probably have in mind Moscow or St-Peters when you talk about Russia being wealthy, but if you ever went out of those cities, majority of Russians live like in medieval ages, really.

This probably has more to do with the fact that Serbia did not sign a deal with Russia on the construction of South Stream. Belgrade is under pressure of EU and the US not to proceed with South Stream. Like some US congress man who visited Serbia the other said that signing up to South Stream would put Serbia in direct conflict with the US.
200 million is much money for Serbia but not so much for Russia. Putin wants to let Vucic know he can still put pressure on Serbia. But Putin is using a stick where it might be wiser for him to use a carrot.

I asked him if he had any funny Serb material that I might could use to tickle some ribs while I sneak in few words of the Good News, and I was kindly obliged. Going through the list and searching for the one that would best represent your little "chest out-belly in" idol, I came up with this one: Putin has a soul the size of a spider's texticles.

"Chest out-belly in . . . a nation capable of this injunction as a general rule is in great danger," . . .
I read that on page 17, in "Hara The Vital Centre of Man", by Karlfried Graf Durckheim.

@Willi Pfaff

Sounds very Albanian. Yes Russia is interested in Serbia and not in weak Serbia when all it neighbors are united by the west to press at this country. To say nothing of the Russian mentality that has always been different and not that pragmatic as you try expose us. Also when you write that Albania is Serbia’s “biggest partner” you should add “and biggest rival”. As for the economist interests they definitely are not in the poorest part of the continent but where the cash money live while Russia is one of such places. Hope you are a Serb.

Rote,

(Avni, 31 October 2014 19:20)

So I don’t know how can you compare the Russians and the Albanians ? Why not Russians and the Mongolians or Bengalis ? Those are different dimensions don’t you know ? Or maybe with your goods you also sold part of your heart to the Albanians ?

Maybe he didn’t say so but he can think so only because in Kamchatka it rises 90 minutes before Japan. I don’t care how it sounds, I employ 14 people in the middle of Belgrade and pay them decent salaries above 300 euro ! 60% of what we make goes to Albania and about 20% to Kosovo, the rest 20% is pushed here through the local Albanians. I have been in Albania on several business trips last month and don’t find them to be different from us. Just some slang differences. But our lifestyle and mentality is closer to Albanians in Pristina than Tirana. I worked in Russia for 5 years cleaning toilets so I know what I am talking about and it is not pretty.

Some reality check here. We sold NIS to our big brother Putin for 400 million when its market value was closer to 2 billion, yet our big brother Putin is not happy that we didn't pay the 200 million for the gas.
Yeah let's go and kill those Albanian terrorists that distracted us with that drone and we got screwed by Putin. And lets cancel their prime minister's visit, who need Albanian enemies when we have friends like Putin.

Could this be the real cause of this situation?

This probably has more to do with the fact that Serbia did not sign a deal with Russia on the construction of South Stream. Belgrade is under pressure of EU and the US not to proceed with South Stream. Like some US congress man who visited Serbia the other said that signing up to South Stream would put Serbia in direct conflict with the US.
200 million is much money for Serbia but not so much for Russia. Putin wants to let Vucic know he can still put pressure on Serbia. But Putin is using a stick where it might be wiser for him to use a carrot.

hahahaha, there you have it, Serbia's best fried in the whole wide world cuts the gas supply. What if EU would start acting the same way whenever Serbia doesn't want to act the way they want. there would be an outcry here about the barbaric methods of the West, the devils trying to bancrupt Serbia, etc ....
(Willi Pfaff, 31 October 2014 14:14)

Willi that is exactly how the West, and everyone else reacts. When you don't pay a bill, your country risks default and bankruptcy. Friendly relations have nothing to do with a contractor expecting payment for goods delivered. If Russia gave all of its fuel away, what would become of their economy and their abillity to help others?

As far as trying to bankrupt Serbia, this government and the past governments are and were responsible for getting Serbia's affairs in order. Maybe they spent to much time courting voters and the western governments and too little time promoting economic growth and fiscal responsibility

I worked in Russia for 5 years, I know what I am talking about and it is not pretty. And those oligarchs who have all the money behave more like uncultured rich Arab sheikhs then true responsible businessman. Serbia's place and interest is first in the Balkans then in Europe. Certainly not in Russia.

You obviously live behind the noon. Who wants to live in Russia? Boom is correct in what he says about the country you live in. It is a currupt dictatorship run by a few super rich oligarchs and outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg people live in poverty. An unfree press, no human rights, a facist government and no future. The current regime will not survive, there will be a time when they are going to swept away just like the communists.

@Willi Pfaff

@(boom, 6 November 2014 17:44)
