Albania's GDP per capita is only 5% lower than that of Serbia, and that's without counting the "grey/cash" economy not accounted for in the Albanian GDP which according to the world bank is about 30% of the GDP.

Rama is using his cleverness to build a better life in Albania, which has not seen a deep resesion yet since 1997.
(Denis, 20 October 2014 17:57)

Serbia has a huge grey area economy as well. Maybe even larger than Albania's. But it is not me who is measuring which country is "better". I am simply responding to your delusional countryman calling your PM a genius and all this nonsense when Albania is deeply impoverished. Not like it matters to him though, not like he has to go on living there.
(Ari Gold, 21 October 2014 01:57)

Ari,
Do you expect us to believe your "off the top of your head" guess is as accurate as the World Bank"s analysis, considering your rather poor track record in making ridiculous predictions. Ari, you are completely caught up in your illusions of grandeur. In addition, anyone who has visited Serbia recently can see how poor Serbia actually is. So please, save your fantasies for your uneducated brethren.

why november 10 ?! after UEFA gives final decision ! it may make thing worse ! and if u push it more it will be end of november, November 28-29 it is a big day for Albania... or the visit will take place for christmas time !?....

@ Jovan, your message shows quite remarkably the level (or the lack of) intelligence of a dimwit human being you are. To those serbs that have few more brain cells then you I just have to remind that there is a large number of sportsmen of your nationality playing in Albanian leagues currently without any trouble whatsoever. Instead Albanian supporters applaud them the same way they do for the Albanian players. Albanians are not burning down their houses like dimwits like you are doing to the Albanian businesses in serbia. And Albanian supporters are not chasing them around the football field with chairs. Dont talk to me like a civilised dimwit as scumbags like you are bringing your nation down and down and down.

So much for the "illyrian" fairy. Do Albo´s have domestic names at all or are they ashamed of being born in the poorest, most crime infested black hole of Europe? Judging by the nick´s the Albo trolls are using here, they certainly are, oh, dear...

Edi rama is possibly one of the cleverest politicians in the 20 century! serbs who dont know him just have to go and see some of his interwies or talks! blair , merkel and many leaders have said that edi rama is some one that make people wonder for his intelects!

I’d avoid using GDP unless you understand what it means. Slovenia is supposed to have a greater GDP than Serbia and at one time even Montenegro was in that category, but both were and are financial basket cases.
On the issue of Albania not being in a recession since 1997, When you economy is mainly subsistence agriculture there are no recessions or depressions.

Andi

Well maybe he should use is cleverness and intellect to raise the living standards of Albanians....seeing as that's kind of what he's supposed to be doing anyway. Albania is still deeply impoverished so for all his smarts, it hasn't done you any good.
(Ari Gold, 20 October 2014 14:15)

Lol and so is Serbia. Very poor indeed. I was looking at the Google Street View and Nish looks like Kabul, Afghanistan, most homes aren't complete, old people walking, old cars, yugos...Nothing to be proud really

(Leo, 20 October 2014 10:43)

Well Leo, actually I don't know if he's a real hero in Belgrade, but the hearsay of Serbian media did a great job in turning him into a real hero among the Albanians.

Anyway, I'm waiting for the evidence. What we've heard until now exceedes by far any James Bond I've ever seen. I think they're going to make a movie out of this story, a ggod amusing one:) It's a pity Monty Python's are no longer around:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1oMhMwUbgc

In any case, Serbs are making a fool of themselves here. Rama is coming to Serbia to normalize relations and as a gesture of goodwill, yet Serbs are the ones accusing Albania of conflict and being a bad neigbor.
It is time for Albania and Serbia to foster better relationship and improve trade and commerce between the two countries.

But Serbia wants to focus on soccer incidents rather than real life issues.

I hate the way the west looks down their noses at the Balkans, but when two neighboring heads of state won't even meet with each other, then we are giving the West an excuse to be smug. Albania is a market for Serbian goods and services that should be developed and Serbia is a market for Albanian goods and services that should be developed. It is in everyone's interest to build wealth, particularly countries that have problems with economic growth, high unemployment and poverty.

If they didn't want to take meetings with other leaders, they should not have become politicians. If the meeting place is the issue, what is stopping them from flying to Switzerland and meeting there?

I have been thinking : Why does our PM insist of going to Belgrade after what happened on Tuesday night and after what has happened for God knows how long ?!
The answer is : I think he truly believes that he can change the way we feel about each other and move on from there, thus benefiting both poverty-stricken countries in the long run !
In an ideal world he probably imagines us spending our holidays in Serbia, and Serbs spending their summer holidays and enjoying our beautiful beaches !
But this will never happen as this is Balkans, a truly irrelevant region, with irrelevant politics, full of hatred and people stuck in the middle ages !
As much as I applaud your 'intentions' do us all a favour Mr PM and stay at home, because God forbid something happens to you ( and it can happen in Serbia) you have started a war !

Europe is far more afraid of Greater Serbia than greater Albania. The bombing of Serbia in 1999 clearly shows that Europe sees Serbia as a threat to Europe. All the four wars in ex Yugoslavia were started by the SERBS not the albanians. Serbia is percieved as the"trojan horse" in Europe due to its alliance with Russia.

Hope he avoids "provocation" and doesn't use an helicopter or a plane to reach Belgrade. Best to come by bus or car.

p.s. don't mention the word "drone" Mr Rama.
