man the atmosphere of that match was surreal...no albanian fans aloud...with request of serb FA and law forces...who said "they couldn`t manage" the situation...and what was the result????? albanian delegation called "enemies"... oand supid violence against the team in the field..."devil plans" against serbia...is just stupid where injected hate and shouvinism has brought to serb society...remember...jews were provoking from centuries and hitler had a soluion...all germany went after him in that "glorious war"...serbs also followed milosevic in the 90-s in his "patriotic" battles...what we have now...chetniks who according to fary-tales "stopped" the nazi march in balcans during WW2...nowadays go around with celtic cross and racist pancarts agains jews...i thought u guys would be more wise...human and less politicised...anyway...is good to know in what stage is serbian society...and how much work do the people of serbia need to be free...and live in harmony with their neighbours

Why do Serbian leaders feel the need to perpetuate the same pattern of talking lies to their people? Wait for UEFA's verdict, do not say we will win the case. Because, you know there are little chances of you winning this case. When the verdict arrives, then you will blame it on conspiracy. The best outcome for Serbia in this case is a neutral outcome. Same thing happened with Vuk "over my dead body" Jeremic's question at the ICTY, same thing happened countless times in the 90's, and even the whole story of Albania's PM's brother was just propaganda smoke. Just shut up and don't get disappointed in the end :).

Some Serb guy not from Serbia, 20 October 2014 11:03)

Kinda sugar coated the Serb participation in all the acts of the fans and players during the game before and after the flag event didn't you?

Some Serb guy not from Serbia

pre 9 godina

In a nutshell the person who flew the flag on the drone was an idiot, and whoever supports such acts at a football game really shouldn't be involved in watching a football game (Serb/Albanian/whicheverland fans). Certain Serb fans reacted inappropriately, and Albanian players overreacted to the Serb guy taking down the flag, he simply took it down.

There is a place to vent political messages and that definately isn't at soccer, particularly when both sides (both Serbs/Albanians) would know how such an action would provoke an extreme action from the nationalist Serbs. and the Albania players shouldn't have been so defensive when the Serb player took the flag down, he was not desecrating it in anyway.

Anywho, what happened has already happened, now both sides have to suffer watching at least Serbia vs Albania games on neutral grounds without their home support. I hope for the sake of both teams that nationalist rhetoric (eg. racist chants, flag flying, violence) will stop so they can both realise that it is just a game of football, but that is just a utopian dream that will probably never come true.

"Oh, I thought these were just words written in Cyrillic. I mean, just like it was 'just an Albanian flag' (like some of the poster here called it) that upset the Serbs in the stadium."

Right, so by your logic, I'm assuming that you understand why some K. Albanins feel provoked during Vidovdan when Serbs bring all sorts of nationalist banners with them? I mean, if a large towel on a drone gets people riled up, then Cyrillic decorations on t-shirts might have the same effect no? Or is it only the heavenly people who reserve the right to feel provoked?

The Balkans really are an endless source of entertainment, isn't it? I guess it would just be a bit too boring in Europe if it weren't for the Serbs and Albanians drawing swords over everything and anything possible. :) This is probably one of the main reasons why I come to B92, since Polish news is just boring by comparison, I mean even when we play against Russia or Germany, the matches are just too... civilized and calm for my liking with too little controversy, I guess.

No doubt it was wrong to use that drone. That is all that can be blamed on the Albaniens in this case. All the groundless accusations against Edi Rama's brother are cheap, and the serb police is unable to find the person who did it. One can only shake its head about such reactions which are shown here. The mass hysteria created by politicans and media complety out of place, and still they are not even able to confront their people with the truth which is well documented with TV and other media pictures. Any normal human being can't justify the behaviour displayed by these hooligaans. It is a very, very poor picture Serbia gave to the rest of the word by acting the way it did in this case.
(Willi pfaff, 17 October 2014 21:20)

Read what Rama has to say to CNN about the drone and about Serbian politicians and their cold war propaganda. Stealing peoples' land, butchering them for their organs, burning their Christian heritage, desecrating their cemeteries, ethnically cleansing them, and now this drone provocation in their capital is civilized? DID YOU STOP TO ASK YOURSELF HOW ANY OTHER CIVILIZED COUNTRY'S FANS WOULD HAVE REACTED? How about asking Ian, he is from England, the most civilized country in the world.
Ask yourself who pushed for this game to be played in Belgrade so soon after the war against the objections and warnings from Serbia? http://www.b92.net/info/vesti/index.php?yyyy=2014&mm=10&dd=18&nav_category=11&nav_id=913065

No Dilemma

pre 9 godina

The clamour of all these Albanians and their sympathisers for the Serbian team to be once again the sacrificial lamb is not surprising and not unexpected. I somehow doubt the Serbian team would have been treated any differently by the home fans in Tirana who are always ready with their kissing cousins in occupied Kosovo to deface Serbian property, abuse her citizens legitimately living in that Serbian province, and have stooped to a new low with their organ harvesting exploits. We need no lessons in civilised behaviour from the likes of these troublemakers and I look forward to UEFA recognising this as nothing more than the deliberate provocation it was which appeared to backfire on the fleeing Albanian natonalists. My view Albanian disqualification and 6 points to Serbia and the rest of the responsible teams in that group. That's just, and a message sent out to keep political views in diplomatic circles and not parade them along with territorial pretentions in sport.

Borders and states are fluid and changeable, they are only concepts that exist in our head.

What we consider borders are only offices set up by government to manage a certain type of jurisdiction. Offices that work by people that represent the government, people that can change, government that can change, borders that can change.

My biggest concern is when minorities are suppressed, violated, and abused. When I say minority I include all of them, gypsies as well.

So much for you so-called "gladiators" who ran away after getting beaten and quickly sought shelter in the locker room. Only after being safe back in Albanistan did they get cocky.

You clearly weren't watching the match, since your players going batshit crazy happened after one of the Serbian players ripped that ugly flag of a fictitious country down. Too bad the referees gave it to your players. I would have enjoyed watching it burn on YouTube.

I've worked as a steward in one of the premier league stadiums for the last 14 years. What i have seen unfold during that match is way too unprofessional and idiotic. I think the only way forward is to ban the Serbian supporters for at least 5-10 years until they sort themself out, as they have shown consistent racist, agresive and provocative behaivour in recent years. I don't think the serbian team should be banned, most of the squad was in shock themselvs and tried to protect their visitors. The three points should go to Albania and the idiotic politicians should stay as far as possible from the sports events. They cannot even do what they have been elected to do, so what makes them believe that they are of use to sports.

The serb politicians reactuins and arguments, as well as most comments by serbs posted here show the poor democatic understanding of big parts of the society. Everybody, even blind people, heard the racists chants by these disgusting huligans. It is known by now that all this even started before the game, and went on until the Albanien team left Serbia. Physical attacks on players must have even been seen by Nicolic who was in the stadium, and still all this OK in their eyes, nothing wrong about it, and they have the right to act like that. The media hammers this into the serb public minds as well, and any civilized person can only shake its head about such arrogant nationalism.

Listen enough with this story.

From Albanian perspective here is how it looks:

- Mavraj got the transom

- Cana almost got a goal

- Albanian flag and national symbols were banned

(then you get the flag of Ethnic Albania)

- We didn't even let you touch the ethnic albanian flag

- We beat your hooligans (Cana was amazing; others quite good too) in front of your president and entire nation

Bottom line: we simply cannot give the slightest sh.. of your intimidation and threats (32 thousand vamparised "fans" chanting as one: death to albanians against 11 Albanian gladiators a true tough mother f..s). We can beat you at home and give no slightest f...

Now it is your turn. We WANT you in Elbasan for the rematch. Bring your Bogdanov and friends please. We like to have them as visitors.

With Serbian fans running in the field attacking the players, chanting Kill the Albanians, booing the Albanian anthem, throwing hard objects in the field, etc etc, there is practically no chance Serbia gets the 3 points.

Allowing fans in the field, let alone allowing them attacking the players, is one of the worse violations of the UEFA regs.

Italy-Serbia mtch in Genova was abandoned withing few minutes (and Serbia lost on the table) with no fans ever touching the green field.

With this in mind I think Serbia has no chance of the 3 points, and will have harsher sanctions against them than Albania. This guys can dream all day about 3 points, but he looks pretty dumb with these claims.

' I think the worst thing that can happen to us is shared responsibility for the game interruption and a new game in front of an empty stadium. '

Ha! Pathetic attempt at an olive branch. no sunshine, the worst that can happen is banning Serbia from the competition altogether. Shared responsibility? You can't blame the Albanian FA for you having racist, stupid and quite frankly, seriously ugly fans. Its not the fault of the Albanian FA that a known Serb hooligan is allowed to attend the match. Before the drone ever appeared, we already had flares pelted on the pitch, chants of 'kill Albanians' objects thrown and whatnot.

basically agree, but how will the UEFA prove it was the Albanian federation who flew the illcit banner? (No Albanian fans in the stadium and seems that the brother of the Albanian PM has nothing to do with that, the police is no longer talking that and no sane reason would buy such a cheap stuff). And no other evidence, even the slightest one, on charge of the Albanian Fed/team. No court, unless in dictatorial countries, can sentece nobody without solid evidence (often it isn't enough, see Pistorius case). Opinions are not evidence.

As for refusing to play, if you've followed the game you can easily understand that no Albanian player could step in again on the pitch.

In my opinion the reaction of the Serbian governement was a little bit surprising, as if they were expecting it, as Vucic told EU three hours before the match. But again, where are the Serbian secret service and police? And again, who benefits from this incident (apart of an idiot of whatever nationality who thinks of himself to be the coolest?

But this is of course my opnion and no proof.

The Italian coach of Albania, De Biasi summoned it in the best way: I saw it, i thought it was a joke. The happy-go-lucky Italian cannot understand (and that's not his fault) that what is a joke for an Italian can be f...ing serious for people who do not know what jokes are... with due respect to everyone...

The Count of Kosova

pre 9 godina

Before the match even started Serb fans were chanting: "kill, kill Albanians", this continued till the match was suspended. This is enough to award the game to Albania. If Serbia is not punished for this racist chant then UEFA is not following their own rules. This is a violation that Serb fans have committed repeatedly. The only way to cure this outrageous and unsportsmanlike behavior is to sanction Serbia by awarding Albania a 3-0 win. Btw, the waving of Serbian flags should be considered a provocation and was carried out from the beginning of the match.

Comm. Parrisson

pre 9 godina

"According to the daily's findings, UEFA is most likely to decide that the two national teams should meet in completely different circumstances, without audience, so as to reduce the room for new incidents to a minimum. "

Exactly. Without audience who chanted hate messages, like in Serbia.

"The Football Association of Serbia has faced the proceedings for the setting off/throwing of fireworks and missiles, crowd disturbance, field invasion by supporters, insufficient organization and use of a laser pointer, and the Football Association of Albania for refusing to play and the display of an illicit banner."

Yes, it's exactly what happened and which must be sanctioned.

"A violation that concerns political provocations is on par with racist, religious and ethnic ones, so what followed does not even compare. I think the worst thing that can happen to us is shared responsibility for the game interruption and a new game in front of an empty stadium."

Correct, Mr. Pajović, this includes the racist and violent behavior of the Serbian fans, and that's why Serbia will be sanctioned as well and shares the responsibility.

It will send the world the message that it is OK to let the fans beat up the players of the opponent team. And that the team that has been violated should just walk it off and forget that they were almost killed. It will tell the world that violence by serbs is ok, nothing happened when they killed Brice Taton and nothing will happened to them again.

This guys can dream all day about 3 points, but he looks pretty dumb with these claims.

basically agree, but how will the UEFA prove it was the Albanian federation who flew the illcit banner?

"Talking complete rubbish again. Its not Cyrillic letters that are banned, its what was written using Cyrillic that is provocative."
(Nikolle, 17 October 2014 20:28)

Oh, I thought these were just words written in Cyrillic. I mean, just like it was 'just an Albanian flag' (like some of the poster here called it) that upset the Serbs in the stadium.

Kinda sugar coated the Serb participation in all the acts of the fans and players during the game before and after the flag event didn't you?
