Do you know what kind of friendship this is? The kind where Gazprom takes over businesses that are losing millions and turns them into businesses that make the state millions. I hate when people say "Oh, they gave NIS to the Russians for free!!". NIS was on the verge of bankruptcy before Gazprom took over. Just like Srbijagas is now. Srbijagas is 100% state owned and the main reason that the country is in so much debt. Every year the state loses 400 million euros to Srbijagas that all gets wasted in corruption. What oil or gas reserves does Serbia have that would make these companies profitable. Very Few.
After Gazprom took over NIS they invested hundreds of millions of dollars into it. Now it owns petrol stations all over the balkans and exports refined oil to those stations. It contributes just under a billion euros to the state budget (about 14% of all taxes!) and employs more people than ever. HIP Petrohemija lost 104 million euros last year. According to Serbia's business Agency the total equity of HIP is exactly zero euros. Gazprom is writing of debt to get a company that is currently less than worthless. Thank god Gazprom is taking it. Serbia should pay Gazprom to take Petrohemija and Srbijagas and do the same thing to them that it did to NIS it would pay of in 2 years. Everyone complained when JAT was sold. That they didn't release the details. Now they release the details and people still complain. Despite the fact that JAT was also losing tens of millions a year.

First giving NIS for nothing and now paying with HIP-Petro? What kind of "Friendship" is this exactly between Russia and Serbia?
