They ought to start by compensating Serbia for the illegal bombing campaign of 1999 which pretty much destroyed all the infrastructure. That would be considerably more than 1.5 billion. Now that would show a gesture of goodwill anything less is just insulting and derisory.

They must be used for structural reforms: improving rule of law, fighting corruption, improving infrastructure and so on. But nobody is going to check, for a casual example, who Vulin will give the contract for new computers for his ministry. They are all drooling for these funds in Serbia, Albania, Montenegro and Turkey. Except for our diaspora friends, who live in the "hated" West.

Nobody is asking Serbia to turn their back on anybody as a condition for the money. Only Russia asks Serbia for things like "selling" NIS for a fistful of Euros in exchange for Russia to just issue some statement of support for Serbia in regards to Kosovo - not even actions; just words.

With a population of less than 150 million even if Putin put every man woman, old man old woman teenager child and infant in a uniform and placed them on the battlefield he would not have a 200 million army. And then if he were to give them a pittance of a salary of say 500 dollars a month the salary alone would be 100 billion a month not to mention clothing, food, medical costs, equipment, housing, training, etc, etc. Soon you are up to many trillion dollars a month.
Finally, any war between the major powers WILL turn nuclear, therefore numbers of troops will mean very little.

And if i may add, every small and insignificant country has to pick a side, these "EUSSR" conspiracy theories are just rubbish. No one is forcing anyone to join the EU, if anything it`s the other way round. Countries like Serbia, Albania etc are begging to join because they know there are huge benefits to be reaped.

Looking at the serb mentality, the EU would just be perfect, becoming the next excuse for everything that goes wrong in Serbia :)

As for his power, it is just confined to within Russia - it's hard to find a country that supported Russia's actions in Ukraine making it very clear that Russia hardly has any power in international affairs.
