From the Russian version of history, was the US even in Europe?? We must have been there as observers!
With Russia liberating everyone, one has to wonder WHY most people speak English as a second language and hardly anyone speaks Russian.

The arrogance of this American is astounding! Is Serbia America's pet that they must report to them who visits them and why? To my historical knowledge, the Russians bled to liberate Belgrade from German occupation, while the Americans bombed Yugoslavia for several months. I reckon it should be the Russians asking what this American is doing in Belgrade, but they don't seem to be doing that.

So where's the problem? Kirby clearly staed that Serbia can invite whomever it wants, and that US doesn't put any pressure on them. He only asked (probably a more rhetoric question) why Putin is invited, while it wouldn't make more sense and be more appropriate to invite the Ukrainian president, because it was mainly the Ukrainian army (which has been then part of the Soviet Red Army, of course) that liberated Belgrade.

Even when Putin sees would like to see it like that, the Soviet Union (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) was NOT Russia, but, as the name suggests, it was an UNION, where Russia was only one of the Republics, together with several others which are today independent countries.

Why Putin is visiting? Probably because the Serbian Prime minister wants to talk with him about territorial integrity of countries, especially about Ukraine (including Crimea).

Why is he coming? NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
Do we ask why anyone is coming to the US? Why was Thaci there? Did we pose that question to them?
Get out of our internal matters.

Well, dear, if you want him to behave like you say above that you don't ask him "how the United States looked at the announced visits to Serbia - Putin in October, and the Chinese premier in December.".... I know you want it both ways, but it does not work like that :)

If Serbia had any self respect they would kick this man out and demand an apology and his replacement.
The very country which bombed us just recently has the audacity to lecture us on who is welcome and who is not. I say, the ones who bombed us are less welcome than the Russians.
Albaians are suckups to the US but at least they got what they wanted with their help. What is Serbia getting from the US? Insults?

The Chinese almost never attacked anyone, while the Russians have. That is something to bear in mind," the diplomat was quoted as saying..

I mean.. do you even know about the country you are currently serving in, making that kind of statement? I certainly don't want Serbia to become a Russian satellite in the Balkans, but your country has made it extremely easy for ordinary Serbs to feel closer to Russia. I'm not an expert here, but it probably had something to do with all that depleted uranium you dropped.

Maybe lose your arrogance first, apart of that means it's none of your damn business who comes to visit Serbia unless Obama wants to come. He is welcomed, but just please don't bring Joe Biden again.

3rd Ukrainian Front was a Front of the Red Army during World War II.

It was founded on 20 October 1943, on the basis of a Stavka order of October 16, 1943, by renaming the Southwestern Front. It included 1st Guards Army, 8th Guards Army, 6th, 12th, and 46th Armies and 17th Air Army. Later it included 5th Shock, 4th and 9th Guards Army, 26th, 27th, 28th, 37th, 57th Army, 6th Guards Tank Army, and the Bulgarian First, Second and Fourth Armies. The Danube Flotilla was assigned to the Front's operational control.

Maybe someone needs to remind the good State Department bureaucrat that the Soviet Union was on the allied side in the Second World War? Maybe someone needs to remind him that the US President sat next to Stalin on more than one occasion?

Makes more sense to invite Putin, the leader of a country who actually was part of Yugoslavia's liberation than Obama, the leader of another allied country who bombed it in 1944? Twice?

They are radical-Chetnik rats, that's why! The Serb nation in cooperation with Rus has always been planning against Europe and the west, Serbs are Russian agents in Europe, they have been since they left mother Russia & occupied parts of Albanian-Illyrian lands! I am grateful to the Americans for their help in defending Europe in three major conflicts. WW1, WW2 and Cold War.

Russia too took big stands against invasions.

Unfortunately Stalin took over Eastern Europe and Communist Russia insisted in subjecting the peoples.

America fed Berlin when the Russians wanted to starve it.

American jets stopped Russian war planes at Western Europe's borders.

The peoples of Eastern Europe don't want Russia back. Just those Russians who have bled across borders.

The US left bases in Europe, but unless Putin calms down his ambition, I guess the peoples of Eastern Europe will find themselves wanting an American shield.

“Michael Kirby has asked why there were plans for Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade.”

Utmost idiotism ! Because :

1/ We don’t have to explain anything to our rivals.
2/ Because Serbs and Russians enjoy the relations of brotherhood and cooperation.
3/ Because Belgrade was the only part of the former Yugoslavia liberated by the Russians and it cost us 7900 lives of our beloved ancestors. Meanwhile the US were devastating Sofia and Dresden with no German troops in them.
