Gay Parade's are an abuse of parades - parades should be a celebration and something which makes the people/spectators happy. It should be something the population wants and not something foisted upon them.
These gay parades are to push a political agenda and not the proper reasons for a parade at all.
Belgrade does have gay bars and many known gay people who are not attacked nor abused. Serbs just don't like a political agenda foisted on them and a foreign one at that.
We are always appreciative of the individuals, ngo's and politicians who show support for human rights, especially in places like Serbia (little Russia) where it could mean being targeted by hooligans, terrorists, etc. But it will take a long time for the general atmosphere to change, and a sea change for the church and the belgrade regime.
As for the young German man who was attacked, he required sensitive brain surgery, and could have died or been at the very least permanently disabled - we still don't know. You'll never get the full story from the serbian press.
