No, it's very clear: Because The Hague is a court based in a real country, the Netherlands, while this case here happens in the independent, multi-ethnic, democratic dream state of Kosovo where 'minorites have more rights than anywhere in the world'(Thaci) - including the right to be held in custody without an accusation for half a year, being confronted with fabricated accusations based on the testimony of a notorious liar, and so on...

Is this the way the defence is going to carry out its work? Instead of fighting the accusations the're going to try and discredit the credibility of the persecutors?

After the hiding of Mladic and co. for more than a decade, Serbia's guarantees to international courts are as worthy as Putin saying he was not involved in Crimea.

Hague asked Serbia for guarantee for Seselj. Maybe they should've consulted you first.

you should put yourself forward as a witness for the defence, since you know the above is true. as for the rest, its EULEX who have ordered his arrest and have asked that he be kept in custody all this time. so if you have a problem, take it up with the EU

Yes, the accused is indeed being persecuted based on his ethic identity (because Ivanovic is Serbian). This explains why Ivanovic was arrested and held for 6 months without charge, because it took the 'persecutors'
6 months to imagine and fabricate these charges.

Both the accusations and the persecutors in this "case" have no credibility - so the defense should point that out.

That still doesn't dismiss the fact his incarceration and trial is based on the accusations of someone who in any other circumstance would be ignored as a village idiot.

Why do they publish something like this on an English site where everyone knows it is a lie. On the Serbian site people who are not exposed to life outside of Serbia would believe this as they believe most of what is told to them. But we know this is not the custom in any country, release is determined on the severity of the crime and the risk of flight. After the hiding of Mladic and co. for more than a decade, Serbia's guarantees to international courts are as worthy as Putin saying he was not involved in Crimea.

That seems to have been Thaci's strategy ever since Marty wrote up his report. That isn't to say it will work. It just seems to be the default reaction people in the region use.

Everyone knew that he would never accept it, but since they offered and he refused, now they can say we offered him freedom but he refused it.

Of course it was a legitimate offer. They can't afford to make the offer taking a chance that it won't get accepted. If it did get accepted they had to be prepared to make good on it or look stupid and say they didn't think their bluff would backfire.

Because Serbia does not have any control in Kosovo so its guarantees are worthless in that regard.
