Yeah, mate, I know and I feel bad for you wasting time to write a lengthy post about nothing when we all know that your time as CE of B92 forums is so valuable and you could have used it to provide us mortals with some economic analysis or secret info that nobody else knows which we can use to make money.

Hey mates, sorry you had to waste your time in writing lengthy posts about nothing. As usual, B92 is not that good with the titles of news stories. If you actually read the story it is B92 which said "EU to Serbia: Russian market is ours" the EU never said to Serbia "Russian market is ours"... Perhaps you can save your posts for the future if and when the EU tells Serbia "Russian market is ours".
(icj1, 22 August 2014 03:05)

I strongly suggest you attend remedial English classes and pay attention to the lesson on comprehension. B92 may not have put it clearly but it is exactly what Brussels is saying – not to take advantage of EU’s current situation and take over its markets in Russia.
Now B92 take note that you have made an error if you can decipher this gibberish of a posting that makes no sense.

Finally, if the poor people of Europe do end up hungry and cold this winter, we will have as much loving warmth and compassion for them as the Europeans had for us when they supported and enthusiastically endorsed ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo and elsewhere.
(DEDA CVETKO, 21 August 2014 17:56)

Deda,

Yet Serbia begged shamelessly for assistance from the EU during and after the floods. I'm sure that floods will occur again in Serbia at some point in time. Remember, the EU can also play Serbia's dirty game.
I am patiently looking forward to the return of floods in Serbia.

Our European friends and allies can rest firmly assured that we will have as much solidarity and empathy for their suffering food exports to Russia as they did for our country during the 72 days of day-and-night NATO bombing raids in 1999.

Not only will we show total and unwavering solidarity with their food exports, we will likewise show their other industries the same amount of solidarity they have demonstrated to our export industries when Yugoslavia fell apart and Poland, Lithuania and Romania couldn't wait to grab their cut of the action of the third-world markets Serbian and Yugoslavian companies won by the sweat of their brow over decades and decades of hard labor in subtropic and inhumane working conditions. They loved us so much and were so empathic to the poor suffering Yugoslavian exports (then under the sanction of our Western "allies", just as Europeans are now under Russian sanctions) that they couldn't wait to see the corpse of Yugoslavia buried before they started picking the bones.

I have been following B92 since the beginning of the crisis. Virtually every look at the headlines tells the story of a country caught between hammer and anvil. Serbia just doesn't fit well into Europe, but it wouldn't be easy for the country to stay out either.

sj

pre 9 godina

The EU can huff and puff all they like but in the last several weeks Belgrade has given Brussels the same message, “if we have to choose between the EU and Russia then we take Russia” and that is the reason Brussels has not dare push for a decision.
However, to say that Russia is the EU’s market is comical to say the least as Brussels has sanctions against Russia over Ukraine but its telling Serbia not to sell to Moscow because Russia is its playground, LOL.

The days of wine and roses are over for the west because when Ukraine is settled, and it can only be settled in Russia’s favour, Moscow will decide who or what sells to Russia and if Belgrade continues on this path it will be the only European country to sell anything to Russia. Does anyone here think for one moment that Moscow will forget what is going on? Not on Angel Merkel’s life.
It’s not a great secret that the Germans are now scared that if this Ukraine goes on too long or Russia imposes even more sanctions on the EU, and Moscow is actually considering doing just that, that their industry will be shut and then there will be millions of unemployed.
The stupidity of the west is gargantuan as the Hungarian PM said “we are shooting ourselves in the foot with these sanctions because Moscow can obtain everything it needs from South America or Asia.

Let’s hope Russia cuts off the energy supplies and see how long before the EU implodes, remember winter is only around the corner.

And what started this whole mess?

It started in the Ukraine where the legitimate government decided against an economic alignment with the EU and towards the Russian Federation. There was a coup and we see the results. The sanctions are because the EU blames the Russians for the mess in Ukraine. But the Russians are innocent. It is strictly an internal problem up against Russia's borders. Russia's involvement is unavoidable. The loss of Crimea is a natural consequence of the exhibits of hostility against Russians in the Ukraine and economic hostility to the Russian Federation. That and the history of the relationship between Russia and the Crimea. Crimea became a part of the Ukraine as a gift from Ukrainian dictators running the USSR when Ukraine was a Soviet.

And now the same EU wants a show of moral solidarity. Why? The EU is the aggressor here, not the Russians.

Peggy

Just wondering who is actually EU? Obviously most countries in the EU would like to trade with Russia but there is only one or two representatives who say no and all the others have to go along with it.
So which country is making the rules and calling it the rules of the EU? This is obviously not democracy but a dictatorship. Why on earth would Serbia want to willingly capitulate to another country?

lol

Well, Serbia as usual play the teenager dance in a disco thinking it can their own rules and escape commun thinking ones. Never seen such an hypocritical political class thinking being clever than the others and that they can play. When you choose one side of political commitment ( EU or Russia ) you must pay the price and not try to escape the worst and just take benefits? Setbia has a lot to learn, following the past week statements, i ll freeze negotiations as they only expect money but cannot commit with solidarity. They will always be slaves of poor and no future Russia... Too bad for their people....as their political class as no balls to tell the people tey better choose EU for economical improvement but they choose Russia for Nationalist reasons ( by the way where was big mouth but small ball Russia during NATO bombing ) ? and sounds that now big mouth Russia in shutting down in ukraine :-)

This was made clear last Friday by EU foreign ministers, although, speaking from a purely international legal point of view, candidate countries cannot be asked to prevent their companies and food exporters who would like to meet the growing demand of their Russian partners, the agency was told by sources at the European Commission in Brussels.

"the EU was somewhat surprised and angry at all membership candidates" - because they believe that refraining from taking the place of European exporters to the Russian market is a matter of "solidarity, and shared values."

EU itself practices solidarity with candidates...

For example, with Croatia becoming a member CEFTA trade agreement was cancelled except for tobacco that still had to be imported from Croatia to Serbia at lower taxes. It was clear that this is very damaging for Serbian economy, luckily EU was there with "solidarity for candidates"...

"The source in the EU says that it is a custom that the country joining the EU keeps the privileges which it had under an agreement with third countries before the accession and Serbia should have taken that into account before even entering the dispute with Croatia."

In other words - we protect EU members. EU membership candidates are not members and can't expect solidarity.
I find it strange that same level of solidarity is now required from members and from candidates, having in mind that same level of solidarity is not given...

EU decided to follow the US and impose sanctions on Russia.Weather they did it willingly or not,EU and US know this.
I am sure that not all the countries in the EU agree with sanctions, but it is what it is.
EU exercised its democratic vote and chose not to deal with Russia, but at the same time telling other countries not to pick up the slack and sell more to Russia.

You cant have it both ways.

In a free democratic system,if Russia can't get what it needs from EU, they have the right to get it from somewhere else.

Serbia has a free trade deal with Russia and they should take advantage of it and any other country.

The EU is now talking about morality and international law? That's ironic!! What about international law and territorial integrity of Serbia? What about the EUs illegal bombing campaign to support albanian terrorists and organ traffickers? Where is their morality when it comes to black mailing Serbia into negotiating with these terrorists?! Talk about double standards and hypocracy. Maybe the EU needs to pull the log out of its own eye before it tries to pull splinter out of others.

So let's get this straight, in a bid to defend Ukraine's territorial integrity, the EU slaps sanctions on Russia. Russia in turn reciprocates and Serbia is not even allowed to fill the need that Russia now has for food imports?!

So the EU defends Ukraine's sovereignty but actively attacks Serbia's by supporting separatists in the south. And Serbia must basically say no to new business to satisfy EU lunatics.

Serbia for the love of God, please run FAR FAR away from the EU. Nobody has to be a Russian colony, EU countries will still trade with Serbia if Serbia has something to trade. But the EU as an organization does NOT have the best interest in mind for Serbia. I wouldn't wish this organization on my worst enemy.

Democracy at work.

B92 may not have put it clearly

Yeah, mate, I know and I feel bad for you wasting time to write a lengthy post about nothing when we all know that your time as CE of B92 forums is so valuable and you could have used it to provide us mortals with some economic analysis or secret info that nobody else knows which we can use to make money.

P.S. CE = Chief Economist

EU : Russian market is ours …
Poland : let's forbid any operations with rouble …
Poroshenko : We have no internal conflict …

LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE WEST IS GONE CRAZY.

The Bible says that He Who Cuts By The Sword Dies By The Sword.

What the Bible will not tell you is that He Who Cuts By Hypocrisy Dies Of Cynicism.

"the somewhat unexpected Russian counter-sanctions" - ROFL !!!
when EU demands candidates and other countrys to refrain from filling the gap the proper response would be to ask EU if the candidates and other countrys could also get a share from the fund for emergency aid for farmers.

Why is the EU acting as a kid? Srsly, business is business... of course Switzerland and Turkey and Latin America will take advantage of this opportunity to make some good money. If the EU is jealous or feel stupid then maybe they should have not imposed the sanctions in the first place!

To PUZZLED : Thought i am not fan of personal comments, i still have to comment yours as you involve me: your own statement commenting that after two reading you still didn t get the point tells a lot about the importance we shall gave to your opinions. Little teddy bear Russia is now attending peace conferences regarding the mess she created : big mouth, small balls :-) By the way the amount of negative opinions tells also a lot about the case : only truth hurts :-) Russia and Serbia are both of peripheral importance....

and if you guys missed this part of the story its just talk and they cant stop anyone from trading ---

This was made clear last Friday by EU foreign ministers, although, speaking from a purely international legal point of view, candidate countries cannot be asked to prevent their companies and food exporters who would like to meet the growing demand of their Russian partners, the agency was told by sources at the European Commission in Brussels.

so in other words the title of this story is false.......they could trade just like anyone on the planet with Russia.....its called crying from the EU that's all....lol.....

Where is the "solidarity" to make Turkey a member, they have been a candidate for over 2 decades.

When they stop occupying another EU member state and even then I don't think the EU can stomach 80 million turks.

I have been following B92 since the beginning of the crisis. Virtually every look at the headlines tells the story of a country caught between hammer and anvil. Serbia just doesn't fit well into Europe, but it wouldn't be easy for the country to stay out either.
