The EU was a common market when it first started out but seems to have morphed into something far more sinister. Probably not a good idea to join if you want to think for yourself they'll still trade with you if you have something that they want.

The EU is a superstate that will basically make national Prime Ministers/Presidents, Foreign Ministers, Ministers of Economy completely redundant.

The EU can't do any worse than Serbia in choosing its Prime Ministers/Presidents, Foreign Ministers, Ministers of Economy for her. Just look at the present leaders of the Serbian gov't, it is an utter embarrassment. In this case, it would certainly be better for an outside neutral organization such as the EU select Serbia's leaders. If this had happened before the Serbs had foolishly elected Milosevic, Serbia would not be in the sorry state she finds herself in now. Sometimes, it is better to hire professionals to do the job for you!

Actually there is immense pressure to get Serbia crawling along the path to the EU (which will never materialize btw), along with the rest of the Ex-YU countries, because it is Serbia that is the largest country in that region (even if you take into account the occupation of its southern province). Serbs still make up the largest ethnic group in the region despite the fact that 40% of Serbs live outside of the Balkans. Without Serbs and Serbia crawling with the rest of the sheep then the EU loses control over the region.

The EU is a superstate that will basically make national Prime Ministers/Presidents, Foreign Ministers, Ministers of Economy completely redundant. There will be no need for such positions because it is the EU that will dictate who your leaders are, how your country shapes its foreign policy and how the economic system looks like in each country.

All decisions will and already are being made from Brussels. Why self-respecting, educated Serbs would want to join this monstrosity I will never understand. I don't think they do either, because every time you ask them they say something very vague like adhering to "democratic values" or increasing living standards. What any of those things have to do with the totalitarian EUSSR, I will never know.

In Serbia's case, it would have been better to have someone other than a Serb do her thinking for her. Just imagine how well off Serbia would be today if some one other than Milosevic had been elected as its leader.

Serbia must abandon south stream. Serbia must impose all sanctions on russia. In fact it would be great If during putins visit he was killed in Serbia. That would be the best.

LOL! Serbia had as much choice, as say, Ukraine, except we don't border Russia. What was this whole "no alternative to EU" campaign about? Yes, we had as much choice as Ukraine, either submit to the EU or war. In our case, war came first.

And still Kosovo-Metohija remains the poorest entity not only in Serbia but all of Europe. You supposedly placed your faith in the right "politicians" (ex organ traffickers, heroin dealers etc.) did you not? So why is your population still so poor unless they are engaging in criminal activity?

I have been protestant Christian for more than 50 years, and very aware of what the coming days will bring.
I do not condemn any of the divergent Christian sects, but I do believe that many people who call themselves Christian act in very unchristian ways.

Well, being poor is relative and much less poorer than, say, (BRICS country) India and, according to the most patriotic of Serbs, BRICS is the model of economic development for the world!
