Dear Commentators

This has really turned out to be a very heated debate. There will not be any compromise or consent amongst us here. Mahatma Gandhi said: “All compromise is based on give and take but there can be no give and take on fundamentals”. And each of us here apparently features his/her own fundamentals. What is appalling is the overwhelming amount of hatred linked to this post and little rationalisation.

Every why has a wherefore; remember: the post was only about sanctions. And some ended up arguing that democrazy is better than democracy. Time will tell who was right.

A great singer and artist used to sing “there is no monopoly in common sense on either side of the political fence and we share the same biology regardless of ideology”.

The world seems to be on fire and, may Mr Putin protect all of you, who all believe that he is right.

I am not saying Croatia's economy will suffer majorly, or anything like that, but I am just saying that this backlash for the sanctions causes unnecessary ans severe losses to certain industries, which people in our countries simply don't need and cannot afford. We have more important things to tend to than to take part in such risky decisions as sanctioning an important trade partner.

Off topic, I love Croatia and Croats. Had one of my best holidays ever there in my student days.

(@rote and peter pole, 9 August 2014 21:59)

I am the biggest anti-communist you can get. I hate them with the greatest passion for their crimes against my people and others in Eastern Europe, so I don't get why I could be labelled as one. And I am not a fascist either, though it proved to be more constructive historically speaking, I completely am opposed to such strict government control. And I am absolutely not pro-Russia either, nor do I view them as any better than America from a European perspective. Both are simply historic and current imperialist overlords and bullies of our various European countries.

But the funniest is you labeling someone as a commie-fascist, when they are completely diametrically opposed ideologies that spilled more blood between them and against each other than at any point in history. You should read up on history and politics a bit more before commenting.

The m*ther-lover who wrote this is a pure bacha-e harkus. As we all know the biggest fascist state is the USA and it’s very amusing when the fascists’ chain dogs bark at those who destroyed fascism in Europe. But in 1945 USA & Canada saved from penalty and took away the remaining Galichina Waffen SS with their families to revive it as the anti-Russian striking force. Europe had been surprisingly silent on Russia’s imperialism. Europe tolerated Russia’s policy affecting sovereignty of countries like Moldova, Latvia, Georgia, and, recently, Ukraine. The EU had attempted to be like neutral Switzerland. But the EU is not Switzerland. We are a continent on which two World Wars had been initiated.

This is the contemporary Europe and it shall not replicate its old illusions and conformism. What the EU does now is critique of and response to Russia’s aggression against a sovereign country that is keen to become a part of Europe and not a part of Russia. And Russia directs the conflict the way they had done it against Poland in 1772-1795 and earlier in 1684. Other countries used similar tactics against their rivals, too. And there were cases of individuals’ disloyalty and betrayal.

The Serbian Prime Minister is right. Serbia cannot afford losing any market. But the EU can say: we do not like the way how our big neighbour acts against our allies. Sanctions are not because of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight, as some referred to here earlier on. This horrible accident just made some Europeans open their eyes on the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. And sanctions are for reasons other than the fatal air crash.

You will loose your shirt if you invest in transport containers, though I doubt you have money to invest. Recall those Serb truck drivers that did not get paid for bringing goods to Russia. They came home disillusioned and penniless to their starving families. This tactic of Putin's is blowing up in his face as we speak. He is furious that the Russian rebels are being slaughtered by Ukrainian troops, meanwhile the Russian stock market is tanking. I'm afraid there will be serious food shortages for Russians this winter, additionally, Western sanctions will surely bring on a viscous recession in Russia.

Welcome to the EU, Croatia, where your politicians will all but sell their mothers to be America's whore, and where your local food producers will suffer enormous losses thanks to this staggeringly idiotic decision by your politicians to unequivocally follow the West in imposing sanctions on Russia, even though there has been NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER to support that the plane was brought down by a Russian-supplied separatist Buk missile system!!! They just follow the Americans like scared pups.

We unfortunately have the same repulsive lemmings in charge here in Poland. These sick American "yes men" from East-Central Europe (Poland, Baltics, Romania, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia) are committing treason against their own countries by harming their economies' growth as well as bankrupting their own local food producers, who now have to find alternative sources to sell their produce to, in which that time window can very well cause whole companies to collapse in our countries.

AND FOR WHAT?!?!?! Europe should leave America to stew in their own juice. We truly need to have our own agenda here, free from American and Russian influence and arm-twisting. Until the Russians have been proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, we should examine this occurrence methodically, objectively and patiently before taking any form of action.

This all looks like some kind of medieval mobbing, accusing a women of witchcraft, or something equally absurd.

Hello Peter !

I’ve been missing you here. Nothing to add to your post. This time you’re more radical than I am … Hope Europe will stop it because the whole battle is for Europe. I know that the elites are all sold out and mudded with compromat but common people must say their BASTA someday. As you know Kiev is a dead body and nothing can save Banderasts. Was very pleased when Poles destroyed UPA-UNSO monument this week. The Nazi must not have any illusions about the Poles , the Rosins , the Hungarians ect. In Donbass their army is demoralized with more than 1200 to surrender this week. Yesterday those were 24 and 79 brigades on the border strip. 150 of them + 300 policemen joined the rebel army. Instead fighting Donbass the Nazi and their Jewish commanders bring their battalions to Kiev where the tense is increased. Yarosh is wounded , Parubi – retired … I think instead of the current endless horror they will have their horrible end this winter. After that Europe will sigh with relief. You do know that if not being teased Russia becomes a good boy.

Tomasz is right - he has a sensible perspective.

Sudyka talks what he wishes - not what is true.

Rote also talks what he wishes - not what is true.

Perfect opportunity for Serbia to ramp up its food exports to Russia. I may start investing in transport containers myself to take advantage of all the business that can be done now. Russia enacted this ban for one YEAR. I don't know if it will really last a year, but what a huge opportunity for Serbia and Serbian agriculture.

Then why is it the rebel commander who is asking for a ceasefire? They're cut off there in Donetsk, far from the Russian border. The Russian leaders are already bugging out, leaving the locals to make the best deal they can with Kiev.

firstly Peter, you seemed to me a reasonable man but in fact you are nth than just a commie-fascist weeping over the lost "glorious" past of ruSSo-polish commie-fascists. do not speak for the former eastern- block people - I prefer the US million times over SU - and many millions share my view, more than you can even imagine. interesting
Rote is just another ruSSian fascist , can't get over the fact that it was ruSSIa who lost eventually WWII, which they started with their socialist partners from germany by attacking treacherously Poland...lol, now it turns out he is antisemite as well, envisioning everywhere Jewish conspiracies - what else can commie(or muslim arabic?) education produce? here are ruSSian nazis, Putler' s bikers in Sevastopol, like their soul-mates in Germany 70 yrs ago marching with torces and froming their favourite symbol - swastika https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWVxXvH4G6U#t=14
and rote, tell Serbs in KiM, why did Putler withdraw russian troops from Kosmet? why doesn' t he bring them back to help out brotherly Serbs - you seem to know everything - or is Putler afraid of Barrack Hussein?

Tomasz if you remember on Tuesday Putin said F*CK POLAND and on Thursday he said F*CK THEM ALL …

Do you really thing people outside of Russia really notice what Vladimir says?! First, because it really does not matter; second, because he has no credibility. Just see how many countries supported Russia in Ukraine... Mate, you believe that the rest of the world is like you and Russia's populace :)

Well, Russia is just a regional power, like say, Brazil, nothing more... It does have the power to bully something like Georgia or Ukraine on its border, but that's it - it has no capability to project conventional power beyond its immediate border region.

“And Russia directs the conflict the way they had done it against Poland in 1772-1795 and earlier in 1684.”

• So many proud words from a dusty shelf ! Why don’t you start with the Polish-Russian war of 1605-1618 ? What were you doing in Kremlin ? If you dare to escalate be ready to answer lots of such questions. In the end you will be very pale. I’ll reveal things Poles never advertise even at home ...

“Sanctions are not because of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight … ”

• Because we all know who and how and under whose command brought the poor plane down. Tomasz ask other Poles in this forum if we need more teachers here … because every day the Albanians explain us what good and what is not , what is black and … Please don’t become an Albanian.

Tomasz if you remember on Tuesday Putin said F*CK POLAND and on Thursday he said F*CK THEM ALL … Here’s my question why the hell he barred the Hortex production , the apples ect. if in a day he was going to embargo everything ? I know the answer – because after Europe will be released Poland will be still punished for it centuries long provocative policy. Learn to behave among the people ! If you like to bark then bark away from the Saint Russia.

“Rote is just another ruSSian fascist”

The m*ther-lover who wrote this is a pure bacha-e harkus. As we all know the biggest fascist state is the USA and it’s very amusing when the fascists’ chain dogs bark at those who destroyed fascism in Europe. But in 1945 USA & Canada saved from penalty and took away the remaining Galichina Waffen SS with their families to revive it as the anti-Russian striking force. So all hui-ustasha bastards and their AlbaGBT partners now dare open their sucker mouths. We have no time for you coz we fight your Master now. But as soon as we stop him we’ll be back for you.
