Serbia "loyal to EU - but not at expense of economy"
PM Aleksandar Vučić has said that Serbia's loyalty to the EU is not in question, but called on Brussels to respect the vital national interests of the country.
Serbia is a poor and desperate nation that can't afford to treat Russia like Germany. Russia is all Serbia has basically! All the eu countries don't invest a fraction of what Russia does. Serbia is a bad investment to all eu nations but Russia goes in and invests. Eu needs to make promises to replace Russia like it has done in ukraine.
Serbia wants to be a member of the EU, right? Then, Serbia must make the hard choices, Serbia must make the necessary transitions and reforms, that will be aligned with standards that of the European club, period! Is Serbia expecting special privileges from the EU, that are especially redrawn for Serbia consumption only? Can other potential members also request special treatment and privileges as well? If EU members that border Russia are able to make the hard choices to punish Russian aggression, why then can't Serbia align her foreign policy with that of other EU members, which have larger economic interests with Russia, yet have made the hard decisions ? There are current EU members with much, much larger economic interests in regards to Russia, yet they make the hard choices that are needed, that present the EU as one!!! Yet Serbia it seems, would like special privileges, to maintain the option of eating out of the EU's bowl with 2 spoons, and maintaining relations with rogue-Russia, which threatens the sovereignty of democratic & freedom seeking nations?
