All countries report their unemployment rate as those individuals who are actively seeking employment. The same as in the US Canada Germany etc,etc.
They do not include any of the following: self employed, disabled, incarcerated, retired, or spouses who choose to work in the home, or those who want to live "off the grid" nor those for any other reason are not seeking employment. But I guess they did not teach that at the Malaysian college of economics and rickshaw driving.

In any official figures disabled, incarcerated, retired or those choosing to stay at home have never been taken into account. The people living off the grid are usually the mentally ill, now days it mostly former US soldiers and these people are not taken into account in any official figures.
People that should be taken into account are both short and long-term unemployed whereas in the west the long term is hidden in other programs such as retraining. In fact in some countries you may be on social security and if you work only 2 hours per week you are no longer classified as unemployed despite still receiving full assistance. That’s what I am talking about.
If the US had 6.1% unemployed Washington would be screaming this fact from the roof. You need anywhere between 350 000 to 400 000 new jobs every month for the next 10 years to return to pre GFC days.
You see my rickshaw training has done some good considering that Asia has just signed with the US for another trillion dollar loan – we no silly, but you guys are if you believe anything that comes out of Washington.

Many things changed after the GFC. Western ratings agencies were no longer trusted by Asia so Chinese financiers set up their own systems where they would keep detailed information on most countries in the world. One such agency has Serbia with an unemployment level at 32% with a 2% to 3% for error. This statistic is based on long and short-term unemployed people seeking work. It’s does not take into account spouses uncles or grandfathers etc. who would like to work.

On the issue of unemployment in Serbia I dont know the exact figure becasue I dont know what criteria was used, but based on probabilities the 30% looks about right. Just like I know that Australia claims 6% when its acutally 13% to 14%.
The US is the best as they have the people who calculate the level of unemployment sign confidentially agreements and they cannot tell anyone what criteria they use in their calculation. Now that is ludicrous. Joseph Stigliz Nobel Prize winner in economics was in Sydney recently and he gave several lectures and mentioned that the real US unemployment level was 23%.

You see Chinese financiers are more than willing to lend to Serbia at a very cheap rate, but outright refuse to deal with Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, Macedonia and especially Kosovo unless EU guarantees are given. That’s another clue for you which place is financially more stable.

Chinese finaciers (actually the government) keep records on most countries in the world and that includes levels of unemployment and during my time with a particualr merchamt bank this type of information was essentail as we used it for our job since western rating agencies were no longer trusted and as of March this year this data base had Serbia at 32% unemployed plus or minus 2% to 3% for error. This information is based on available data and some estimation (the estimation has proven very acurate), but even if it was 35% it is still within the bounds of reality.
Lad, there are two very conservative groups on this planet and they are bankers and insurance companies and they never release confidentail information. But if I am telling stories I am then misleading my fellow Serbs as i’m making it on a serbian based media site and not Albanian.
On the issue you want to see it, try going into your local bank and ask them to provide you with information on some of their loan products and see how far you get.

Working for a merchant bank requires confidentiality clauses in employment contracts stipulating that commericail in confidence matters are not diclosed and depending what you did in that bank there are further clauses that hold you to account, and in my case, 3 years after leaving.
I worked for RHB Banking Group, Commerical Banking Division, Kuala Lumpur. The Group is owned by China Merchants Bank through other shelf companies and HSBC Banking Group Hong Kong.
The ’agency’ you talk about is a unit within these banks and they gather data and information about countries and its not for covert reasons but for these banks to make an informed decison on whethere to invest or not. From what I understand they have access to material from the Chinese Ministery of Finance, bu I dont know as i never worked in there.
The level of unemployment is not confidential as I have quoted it may times, but other aspects such as financial stability of a country is extremely confidential. I have never used it as I was onlkyn in vovled in commercail banking aspect but I have friends who do work in that unit.
