"Nobody has right to lecture Serbia on Ukraine"

Nobody has the right lecture Serbia, especially not those who "brought our own territorial integrity into question," said Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić.

You're sick for dreaming of war and state violence.
(Danilo, 26 July 2014 20:43)

I was being hypothetical you clown. But no it's not dreaming for war or state violence, see in the West we value these things called sovereignty. I know you don't know what that is, because your only a pro Westerner/self hating Serb, but you have no real idea of what Western values really are... or what are the positive ones that Serbia could actually bring over from here. Because you only know about the West from what you see on TV and when Angela Merkel comes to lecture the new Yellow Otporistas-SNS.

But yes here in the West, you value your nations' borders. You don't negotiate breaking your country off to join some club. Obviously Danilo you need a lesson in Western values.

It's exactly what Israel is doing today that Serbia was doing before intervention in the 90s. Now, Serbs here are not nearly as organized as the Jews are... that's why Serbia got a raw deal out of everything in the 90s because of bad lobbying.

As for Crimea, Crimea has been part of the USSR since the 1700s, when Catherine the Freat took it from the Ottomans, and part of Ucraine for only 30-40yr prior break up of the USSR. The kings and Queens of Russia used to spend the winter in Crimea(also called the Tauric peninsular).

Serbia can support russia and be an ally of Russia because having posted border guards, customs agents, an ambassador with dejan pavicevic it has given up on the idea of territorial integrity. The policies of Serbia- a nation with no territorial integrity- are all about not caring about violations of it. It doesn't exist for Serbia so who cares about ukraine. However since serbias only goal is to join the eu it will oppose sanctions on Russia over crimea and ukraine but not because it believes in territorial integrity only because it wants to be in the eu. What kind of country that is said to claim Kosovo would appoint border guards and customs agents and ambassadors and great it like a country at meetings and conferences and accept ambassadors from it! FIFA friendlys, eu memebership, UN membership etc etc.

Thank you for mentioning human rights. It amazes me that the real reason Nato bombed Serbia is lost in so many comments on so many sites. The word "massacre" is never mentioned, just some ridiculous ideology of religious territory. The rest of the world wouldn't have gotten involved over a simple land grab. Did we forget about all those innocent bodies in the Drina, and the rape hotel in Visegrad? It's time to stop playing victim and get a conscience. It's the first step in healing.

The minister also noted that "Serbia defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine, but cannot defend it more than it defended its own territorial integrity," and that in that instance Western countries "did not come out gloriously."

That's true. Serbia defends Ukraine's territorial integrity by being good friend with Russia which violated it, and defends its own territorial by being good friend with western states who violated it.

So, indeed, it's the same kind of 'defending'.

"To claim to support Territorial Inegrety but then to support a nation that violates it - then trying to justify it - seems rather schizophrenic. "
(truthiness, 26 July 2014 01:25)

Yes, it is. That's why Russia's behaviour is schizoprenic, not recognizing Kosovo and South ossetia and supporting sepratists in Ukraine. That's why Serbia's behavior is schizoprenic, but most schizoprenic is when countries that recognized Kosovo and that supported the Albanian separatitst keep talking about 'territorial integrity' of Ukraine.

My conclusion is: It is never about territorial integrity, there are other reasons why states support etnic separatists or not.

What Serbia should say is that it feels sick to see Ukrainians tear each other apart and that the country can't afford to do it.
They should also state that they know the media and foreign governments create such a fog with propaganda lies that Serbia can't comment as they don't know the full score of what is going on, and it doesn't want to make a wrong choice given that there are probably big lies.

They should also remind that the west and Muslims and Croats told big lies and exaggerated during the recent Balkan wars and was even claiming extra 100s of thousands died than actually did.
And that the west claimed the dead were mostly civilians when in fact they were mostly militants/combatants and that most all the dead were actually MEN.

Whatever side you take in relation to Kosovo (Pro Serb or Pro Albanian) and the West (What it did or didnt do) one thing remains startingly clear:

If Serbia is such a Champion of "Territorial Integrety" - as it claims to be - there can be no grey area for them - they must condemn the Russian actions in Crimea and the seperatist actions in Easy Ukraine.

To claim to support Territorial Inegrety but then to support a nation that violates it - then trying to justify it - seems rather schizophrenic.

All they are achieving is underminng their own position.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Serbia was seriously upset when it was bombed or its territorial integrity disrupted.

If it had been, it wouldn't want to join the EU, given that 13 EU states went to war against Serbia, and given that 21 EU states recognise Kosovo's independence (and most of them did so almost immediately after it was declared).
(RP, 25 July 2014 15:12)

What's worse, is the EU will cause further catastrophe for Serbia's economy. So all the degradation and attempts to humiliate Serbia on its illustrious "path towards Europe" will not even be worth it if all those things were not happening. If the EU begged Serbia and let tanks roll through Pristina, it STILL would be wrong to join this sinking Titanic.

Don't believe me? It's so bad that if Serbia created a tax-haven for all foreign investors who have offices/branches in the surrounding EU countries- Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia etc.... all of them would pick up and move to Serbia instantly to get the hell away from EU regulation.
