One of the requirements for the leader of a socialist party to come out and says we want capitalism, is that of having huge balls. And this man has got the best pair of them.

What?

"Recognition of Kosovo, unconditional submission to the US empire,NATO membership, GMO's or the color of Goofey's underware."

What in the world does any of the above have to do with capitalism which an economic system?

Nobody EVER voted for capitalism, it always was, and is imposed on the people.
Here's the game: First you vote and afterwards we will explain you what your vote was about. Recognition of Kosovo, unconditional submission to the US empire,NATO membership, GMO's or the color of Goofey's underware.
Just watch "Ask Ivica" on channel Voice of America and you'll know the whole truth about your vote!

@Joachim: "Have I missed something? Has there been a referendum about capitalism?"
Sure, the same way there was a referendum about communism.

A very weird post considering you apparently are more comfortable reading the ENGLISH version of B92 rather than the SERBIAN one. One could thus imply that you would also be more comfortable with laws printed in English rather than Serbian.

Why do Serbian laws need to be translatable into English? I see no one insisting that English laws be translatable into Serbian. This man is what one might call a "prodana dusa" which isn't directly translatablle into English, but a term does exist which is similar "sold his soul". That about sums him up.

But he states himself that Serbia had a higher GDP when it was (more) socialist back in 1989: "considering we achieve 65 percent of the GDP we had in 1989".

And socialism does exist even in the capitalist countries. The U.S. has unions, Social Security and a whole slew of social programs. It's best to find a mix that is right for each country: one extreme or the other causes the most problems.

As far as I recall, the October 5th "Revolution" was not any kind of voting procedure at all, it was a U.S. government-financed coup d'etat in which the well-financed professional front-line demonstrators made their way directly to where the election ballots were being stored and proceeded to burn them or throw them from the parliament windows! No one has ever been able to explain to me why the so-called democracy protestors would destroy the very ballots that they said proved the elections had been stolen by Milosevic, rather than to preserve them as evidence of his alleged election fraud. Is it perhaps possible that Kostunica did *not* really win the required 50% of the vote to take office after the first round?

Having been born and raised in Canada, I can testify, just like most Scandinavians, that capitalism can coexist very well with socialistic social programs, providing a balanced economic system. Why is that now so hard for Serbia to simply copy?

And finally, since we are talking about what the people purportedly voted for... When will Serbia hold a referendum on EU membership? Or is that just another minor issue that the politicians have decided in secret during endless conferences at the US embassy?

lol right, Serbia voted for capitalism. And who exactly is going to "bring" capitalism to the country? A bunch of communist educated nitwits? Sorry, but after 2000, we heard talks of "modernization" and "reforms"... and those same people led Serbia to her ruin 14 years after these supposed changes were meant to happen.

Serbia does need capitalism, but it needs someone who is actually educated abroad to implement it. One thing Serbia doesn't need is more career politicians like Dhaciq who made a career off completely ruining Serbia internally.
