Belgrade, Priština officials to discuss "tensions"

I would surmise that the majority of ordinary people within the space of what was once Yugoslavia yearn for a stable existence with an improved quality of life. Most of the Republic's, including Serbia, are doing their best to move forward. What's depressing about the Albanian zealots who regularly bombard this forum is that they appear to reflect the backward mind-set of many within their community. This residual obsession with attacking the Serbs and fantasising about some primitive nineteenth century concept of a greater Albanian state, is indicative of how these people are incapable of looking to a peaceful future co-existence. Smearing and name calling is infantile and tiresome. I can only assume they have nothing better to do. Like getting a job perhaps, or working towards the improvement of their society?

Serbs in northern Kosovo recently removed a barricade on the bridge between the northern and southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, and then brought in soil and put up flower boxes, saying they built a "peace park,"

In Europe, Democracy brought greater obstruction down, like the Berlin Wall, and this from a greater more powerful foe, the USSR!

Your posting is humorous and sad at the same time, but inaccurate, totally. If Serbia spent as much energy on moving forward as they do on trying to push the Albanians backward it would be amazing what they could accomplish.

This might be hard for you to believe, but the world views Serbs far different than you, who I can imagine are one of those Albanians PEN correctly describes. Serbs have done their homework and have reinvented themselves from the 1990s. When people think of Serbs today they think of star athletes, Nikola Tesla, Belgrade, EXIT festival, and great food. They don't think of the 1990s, and if they do, they think of it as a time when everyone suffered and everyone committed some crime. It was a civil war. Too bad you, Mr. "truth" are trapped by your own prejudices because if you saw more clearly, you'd see the tensions in Mitrovica are clearly brought on by Albanian extremists. Not by Serbs. If they would put their energy and money sent from the diaspora on fighting crimes, drug mafia, corruption, building a democratic society, arresting war criminals instead of electing them for prime minister into the government, finally realizing that the 'greater Albania' nationalist are not the solution part of the problem, trying to create good conditions for other business besides drug distribution and not spending money for fancy villas and prestige projects like a highway to Albania nobody needs, and so on, Kosovo wouldn't be the back hole in Europe it is today.

I will be sure to distribute your report to all relevant news agencies with whom I have contacts. Sorry to inform you, but I AM part of the US and I think my view of Albanians and Serbs are pretty accurate. With the exception of larger cities that have high concentration of immigrants, most police officers in the US do not have any feelings about Albanian vs Serbian criminals.
95% of the people in my state do not know anything about Albanians but more know of the reputation of Serbs because of the wars in the Balkans.

Wrong on many counts:
First I am not Albanian, Serbian or any other ethnic group from the Balkans, not related to my knowledge to any by marriage or blood. 25 years ago could not tell you what an Albanian was and if you mentioned Serbia, I would have thought it was a misspelling of Siberia. My association came about with the Yugo wars.
2. The websites you post give no indication of what police think, most are blogs, or reports by authors like Julia Gorin usually only read by pro Serbs not mainstream people.
3. Albanian mafia is different from being Albania, just like those guilty of Serbian war crimes or the Serbian mafia are different from Serbians, or the Russian mafia is different from being Russian or Mexican and Latino gangs are different from being Mexican or Latino, etc, etc.
4. Being Albanian in the US, to the mainstream public, is no different than being Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian.

During the US civil war the soldiers on both sides had the highest literacy rates in the world, but today it’s the complete opposite so stating that American police officers know the reputations of one or another ethnic group is laughable as the only and I say only source of information comes from CNN or Fox.
