After Catherine Ashton leaves office as EU's foreign policy chief, the United States would like to see "a strong personality" take over.

But not an independent one. The position is essentially that of a spokesperson for the 28 foreign ministers of the EU that regurgitates bland consensual statements agreed by all through one cake hole...not one person who makes up European foreign policy that screams and rails against foreign states and politicians as is the case with the United States Departemtn of State (flip-floppers like Kerry and his spokespeople.
