During the devastating floods that hit Serbia in May, 57 people died, of which 23 drowned, Interior Ministry Secretary of State Aleksandar Nikolić has said.

"One has to wonder what was the reason for the other 34 deaths and were they as a result of the floods and whether they were from the areas of the floods?"
My guess is heart attacks and strokes from the stress and panic - probably mostly middle-aged and elderly. Remember the emergency system wasn't operating either, so people who collapsed couldn't be rescued by ambulances and get to the hospital on time.

Are they going to list the names and/or ages of the victims? Weren't some rescuers killed - and are they counted, including the Russian rescuer?
