Of course there are, but Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania still don't fulfill basic requirements yet were still made members.

Dude,

Yes, but those countries did not commit genocide on their neighbors.

Juncker denied that he had called for a full stop of the enlargement process, but that he was merely being realistic and that there were clear requirements for getting the candidate status and accession."

Brussels neither respects its own conditions or upholds its oft-proclaimed 'Rule of Law'. It consistently lies about both and applies different levels of standards depending on who is in favor. It is corruption at the heart of Europe.

Obviously, the current countries in the Balkans will not be part of EU.. REASON WHY::: Corruption, and politics.. Drugs.War..Extortion, Nationalism.. And you know what, i rather Serbia and CG not join EU at all because both are awesome countries that offer so much than your typical EU countries who are bland plain and don't know what the meaning of life is besides getting in debt and living depressed.

Similar reason why none of the baltic countries are in the EU.. ex Ukraine, easy way for everyone else to split the pie and do stuff that that is very illegal

If Greece, Italy Spain, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia are struggling while being in the EU.. I dont see how ex yugoslavia countries will benefit and succeed.. It makes absoutely no sense at all. Even croats are having there fair share of problems while being in the EU.. Everything is expensive like the west yet people's wages aren't that high..

Anyways, slavic people in the balkans, sit back and enjoy that drink or ciggarette, because if your country becomes an EU member, good luck working like a slave and being in debt in the system.

How would EU membership prevent conflict within the EU? After all, these states were previously members of a federation called Yugoslavia and that didn't stop them fighting each other, so what means would this slightly looser European federation have of stopping its members from going to war?

"The countries of the Western Balkans deserve a European future..."

I know we weren't great but do we deserve something like that? Somehow, it seems to me that punishment is too harsh...

Kosovo has been occupied by a rather unruly bunch from Albania. Maybe they are the stumbling block??

You have witnesses or evidence of this? Where is the evidence and where are the witnesses and how many are there?

Not surprising at all, with all the border issues unresolved since the early 1900s it only makes sense to wait! Then we have Serbia which is still seen as a volatile factor in the Balkans! Heck, it was only recently that the Serbs butchered over a quarter million innocent none Serbs, in hopes of creating a greater Serbia! It would be premature for the EU to except any country's from this area, as some of these country's occupy lands that historically don't belong to them!!!

Not surprising. Wasn't the date for Serbia (as the first new western Balkan country for EU access) set to 2020? And this is 6 years.
