Most of the 6 billion + that you reference don't care about the ICTY.
The permanent member(s) of the UNSC that set-up the ICTY and appointed the current ICTY President Meron have also politically manipulated the court, turned it to a sham and set-back International Criminal Law many generations. Please refer to the writings of Judge Harhoff, who was fired from the tribunal, for the strong supporting evidence.
I don't think that the 6 billion + you reference know either of Harhoff or Meron, but most in the International Law community do and the three ring circus (sp? Chamber) of the ICTY.

Rather than defer to Human rights groups who too often pursue their own political agendas, I have followed the commentary on International Criminal Law (such as Opinion Juris, EIJL Talk, Dov Jacobs etc....). The credibility of the ICTY among International Law experts is now nil; the tribunal is viewed as a shameful institution that has done more harm to International Criminal Law and it's handling of the Seselj case is now verging on the criminal abuse of justice.

Thank you for sharing how "Amnesty Yugoslavia" views the tribunal... obviously there are other 6+ billion people who have their own opinion, as well :)

But ultimately what matters is what Russia, China and the other UNSC countries' opinion is...

Unlike you, I'm not here arguing his guilt or innocence, that is for the courts to decide, so either convict him or set him free! He hasn't been convicted of anything and yet imprisoned for 11 years.

So you would make the same argument for someone you are convinced murdered and tortured and raped hundreds of Serbs???. Or point blank you would make the same argument for an Albanian, I do not remember you crying travesty when Haridinaj was rearrested and tried a second time for crimes he was ruled not guilty of. I don't see you demanding compensation for him for the time he spent in prison the second time after which once again he was ruled not guilty.
The number 1 argument I hear from your camp is that witnesses were intimidated or killed, however, Haradinaj was in jail and your only connection to any of the alleged activities are just Serbian rumors.
However, on the other side you have Seselj publishing the names of protected witnesses against him, open intimidation but you stand up for him.
Your argument just does not hold water. If you truly were leaving it up to the court to determine guilt or innocence, you would not have said "This man should be immediately released from custody and reimbursed for false imprisonment!!"
Now the big question, would you have thought he received justice if a verdict was rendered WITHOUT the court allowing him to file his numerous objections that had to be ruled on??

Milosevic and Seselj were/are defendants and I think that the excessive manipulations of the ICTY are better exemplified by incidents such as the open political dispute by Judges Harhoff/Meron that buried the court, the laughable standard of evidence presented by the OTP, and the other tribunal organs (secretariat, registrar, etc) whose actions only amplified the bounce in the kangaroo proceedings.

I recently attended a panel discussion on international law, and it cited the ICTY as an example of the ineffectiveness of such tribunals in that because it brings together jurists from so many varied legal systems it is a prime target for excessive manipulations and Milosevic and even more so Seselj were given as textbook examples.

My guess is that most of the human rights group are as appalled as you are, except they think that it is a travesty that his conviction and justice for his victims has been delayed this long.

Where are all the human rights activists. This is a travesty of justice. This man should be immediately released from custody and reimbursed for false imprisonment!!
