Mirel you are right on Libya, it will take time. But in Libya people there started and the West helped a little.

While Iraq was not the same. People of Iraq did not start and it seemed, now, did not want that intervention. As some posters have pointed out ,Leonidas, has been very detrimental for the people there.

Apart from arms dealers I can't believe that there would be anyone in that country in favour of that war, but then again some don't even know the capital city of the state they live in.
The whole idea is to get rid of secular governments in that part of the world and replace them with Islamic governments. While they have secular leaders the country has a chance of progressing and their people have a chance of evolving by more access to education which means less religious influence. The leaders can be kept in check and they in turn will keep their dumbed down citizens in check.
The US knew exactly what they were doing when they started destabilisation of Iraq and the rest followed.
So much innocent blood on their hands.

Nenad said, "Also sad that the political party that took us into that war is poised to make significant gains in the elections this November."

Only time will tell if this is true. More importantly - the Democrats are destroying themselves from top to bottom, White House on down, with their repeated lies and poor leadership. They have only themselves to blame for any losses.

99% want are wasted tax dollars the Hague stole refunded
(TexasDan, 24 June 2014 15:18)
Don't quite know what the Hague has to do with the war in Iraq, but at least give a reasonable post. As shown when Jeremic got egg on his face thinking that if he held a debate on the Hague in UNGA, thinking people would line up behind Serbia in its criticism only to listen to country after country to get up and sing the Hague's praises.
In fact the only people that find fault with the Hague are the guilty criminals, their families and friends.
My only problem with it is justice should come swifter.

If you see the poblic opinions of WWII only 10% of americans supported entering into the war.
What I am trying to say is that public opinion in this matters doesnt always is right.
It took 20 years for Germany to rebuild.
It will take more Iraq or Lybia.

Incredible.18% of Americans think of the Iraqi invasion in terms of money spent and US soldiers killed. What about the 500000 Iraqi children died prior to the invasion as a result of sanctions, another million dead civilians since the invasion and 7 million displaced?11 years have elapsed since the invasion of Iraq and there is seemingly no end to the innocents who are chased from their homes, shot at, maimed and killed as a direct result of decisions made by the new oil crusaders and without apparent concern for the consequences of their actions.
War has always been a racket. It is the oldest, the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is all about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.
This necessitates the urgency for convening a new war world tribunal(Nuremberg Style)to punish the evil crusaders that have caused death and misery to Middle East through their wars of aggression.

I think it was not only waste of money and lives, but, as we can see now, didn't improve the situation at all. Sad but true, but it seems that those muslim countries in the middle east can only be ruled by dictators - democracy doesn't work there.

Sad that there is still nearly one-fifth of people in the US that think the 2003 invasion of Iraq was worthwhile. Also sad that the political party that took us into that war is poised to make significant gains in the elections this November. It's a mad, mad, mad world in which we live.
