Serbia "must postpone start of South Stream construction"

I think Europe is going to freeze this winter. Either that or gas prices will go through the roof and EU citizens won't be happy about that, especially when they see Brussels caused the problem. I wonder how increased energy prices will affect Gemany's manufacturing industry? Russia can now sell gas to China instead.

Putin has outmanoeuvred so far so I'd say he will have the last laugh. Push him far enough and we shall all see. Thinking turning off Russian gas will do more damage to the EU than Russia. Lets see if the EU will shoot itself in the foot but we'll probably have to wait until about October, when the cold begins to settle in, before Putin acts.

The China Russia deal is still years away from bringing money into Russia and Russia needs the EU money to build the pipeline to China.
The China deal also will only replace maybe 10% of the Europe sales and at a much lower rate.

TAP is doubtful - France's Total is pulling out and so is Germany's E.ON
Southern Europe needs South Stream gas.
Bulgaria is likely to simply wait until Senator McCain is preoccupied with mustering the invasion of some hapless country somewhere, which is most of the time anyway.

Yes a west that is hard up for cash is going to do damage to Russia. But we know its only in the west that can borrow and borrow without any affects because they have the forcefield of freedom and democracy protecting them.
