In 1941 we had an early and severe winter with 10-20 C below zero in mid October. The worst days were 15-17 of October when there were no troops to defend Moscow but the special brigade of NKVD. Beria opened the shops and it initiated panic that lasted for 3 days. Panic was ended and soon the 25 Siberian divisions started to arrive. It stabilized the situation. Besides the surrounded Soviet troops near Tver kept on fighting. So the Germans could not afford another attack at Moscow. When they finished with the surrounded troops it was already November with 25-30 below zero. Germans were going to end the war before the winter. So their engines got frozen , their soldiers got frozen , their arms got frozen and their winner spirit too got frozen. Who knows how would the things run unless the Cetniks granted us an extra month in May ? I do not doubt that in the end we would win in any case but the war could last much longer taking away more lives. Who knows how many more Russians would be killed here unless Tito’s army arranged the Axis the permanent nightmare in their rear regions. Yugoslavia had the second big fighting army on the continent after the USSR that suffered second big combat losses on the continent and destroyed second big quantity of our rivals. Who knows how many more Russians would be buried in Yugoslavia should the partisans not set their lands (outside Belgrade) free ? We in Russia remember everything !

Congratulations - it’s our joint Victory !
