What an easy question to answer. Serbia signs a gas deal with Russia at the maximum price. Serbia supports Russia its monthly bill is even less than Germanys. Serbia does not support Russia then Belgrade pays maximim price. Its standard practice that even the US uses.
The trick is not what the paper agreement states but what you recieve each month to pay. Look at Ukraine, once it went to the dark side, its bill was quadrupled.
By the way, the Gernmans have not really taken part in sanction against Russia – its all token stuff. Now you understand how it works?

I didn't understand a thing, but I'm sure that's because the brains of us common mortals are not able to comprehend things that only giants of economic thinking like you, the CE of B92 forums, can comprehend.

Ok, sj, then for us "uneducated" you might want to explain why Serbia pays around 50% more than Germany? We are talking about the same Russian gas. Leave the LNG thing alone. I'm breathlessly waiting for your educated reply.

It is great to have the superknowledgeable like you and sj to educate readers here of the facts that no one but you and he are able to obtain!
Of course I guess that is the reason you give this information here, no need for verification.
(an observation, 7 May 2014 20:53)

When dealing with backward people any knowledge is deemed superior intellect mate. I strongly suggest you read up on how the US manages to produce this wonderful “cheap” gas. Any place where drilling occurs for this gas means using chemicals which poison the aquifers so that underground water becomes unusable for drinking or irrigation for ever.

The fact is if the US had all this gas (its more windbagging than anything else) they would have supplied the EU a long time ago and cut off Russia’s monopoly. However, the volumes required by Europe cannot be supplied by shipping and when you add the cost of transport I think you will find it even more expensive than Russian gas. I know the US can lay a pipeline in the Atlantic Ocean to Europe (some of the deepest waters in the world) – now that would reduce the cost of US gas!!!

I love also the EU’s proposal of getting gas from Turkestan (here is some news – it’s a former Soviet Republic and guess who controls it???? No it not Washington.

I bet we could trade you your house for some shiny beads.

Commentator, Don't you find it misleading when you fail to mention to cost of shipping gas from the US to Europe? Shipping isn't free you know. Its about $300 USD/pcm. So typical of Americans to always hide the final prices in the FINE PRINT located at the bottom of the last page. Your tricks and gimmicks are old news my friend. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Tell me though, how exactly does the US expect to ship over all this gas when they are about 400 transport ships short? Let me guess? order them from eBay? Next day delivery? Your tooth-fairy stories may fool little kids and most Albanian trolls here... but not educated people.

Russian gas for Germany (best price): 285 USD / pcm
Russian gas for Serbia: 425 USD / pcm
(Commentator, 7 May 2014 15:17)

At least Serbia gets a more 'preferred' price than Ukraine now, where Gazprom demands an increased price of $485.

About the price for US-LNG gas: I guess this must be the domestic price within the US, not the price for exports to Europe, because so far no significant amount of US gas is exported.

LNG is the best way to break any monopoly. That is why on the long run it will be cheaper, though it costs energy to liquify. It even does not matter if you buy it in North America, Australia, Middle East, etc. None of them give energy for free. You need to buy it as you have to buy bread in the shop. But here we don't have silly gas wars and black mailing.

Russia fears this so much, but trying to overcome it with Southstream is lunatic. The pipeline costs already 30 to 50 billion USD. Not mentioning that it is illegal according EU law. It would be only be built if gas supplier and gas transmitter are two different companies but if Gazprom-Russia gives in to that, they would built an ultra expensive pipeline which will be used by all. So it does not matter if it is built or not. It will not help Russia as it hope to win with.

American gas production is heavily subsidised by the govt and is based on extracting shale gas which is very expensive to extract and not nearly as plentiful as the Americans claim. The current surplus of American gas will soon end and there will be insufficient gas for local needs, never mind export. The Americans know this, which is why they don’t allow exports.

Yet another point is that the Japanese pay twice as much as the Germans for gas so they will be a more profitable market for American LNG, if it is ever produced and if it is ever allowed to be exported. Somehow I don’t think the Germans will be taking your advice.

I don't think your prices are the true ones :
It is very expensive to bring GNL from the USA to Europe.
Therefore , USA's GNL must be more expensive than Russia's gas.
