Learned about his passing with a delay, as I live across the pond. I read a few articles and one thing I didn't like is that he's referred to as "British director and... who spent most of the time...". He was actually a Serbian of British descent. To say that both the Serbs and the Brits can be nothing but proud of this great and humble man is stating the obvious. His feeble human body went the way of nature, but his deeds are immortal. Singing him praises is just redundant, he will always be in the heart of all of us that were touched by his ingenuity and made to be better and nobler people because he cared.

His children's programmes were heavily influenced by Monty Pyton's Flying circus and were sooo ahead of time in Yugoslavia in those days. But, he has left one more legacy. He was a bird watcher who loved the numerous nighingales of the Banjicka Suma Park, wrote about it in the Plitika daily somewhere in 1980's, and initiated its protection. Thanks to Byford, that park is an urban nature reserve nowadays. R.I.P.

This man lived a good life, and he created beautiful things and he left a legacy of beautiful memories. People like him make dark times less bleak and the world is always at a loss when they depart.

Dear Timothy,
Thank you for the best days of my childhood, for teaching us, for guiding us, for showing us what the real qualities are. You made such a difference in my and many other people lives. Thank you for working on protecting Banjicka suma and many other projects that you launched. Your brave heart, your courage and huge soul will never be forgotten. With all my love, Alexandra
