No kidding, i.e. Serbia wants to be a fence sitter? No luck for Serbia being a member of EU, and Serbia knows it, so why pursue it? Better that Serbia get onside with Russia before it's too late for Serbia. Maybe it is already?

Noting that Serbia is not a member of the EU, but rather a country whose process of joining the Union is underway, he said that it is under “no obligation” to accept the position taken by the EU states, but rather that there is a need to find a common ground regarding the policy.

What is your position on Russia going to be when Serbia joins the EU?

I think Serbia should stay away from EU for this very reason.

9 REASONS WHY SERBIA SHOULD NOT IMPOSE SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA:

1. Says who that all European countries are obligated to think the same, speak the same and toe some abstract, publicly undeclared official line? If Serbs wanted something of this nature, they would have become a part of USSR 100 years ago.

2. There is NO consensus among EU countries on this issue. The VAST majority of the European public opinion is dead set AGAINST sanctions.

3. Under these circumstances, turning Serbia against Russia would essentially coerce Serbia to side with the European MINORITY opinion imposed by NATO and Victoria Nuland.

4. Serbia has deeper and longer ties with Russia than virtually any other EU nation except for ex-members of USSR. Forcing Serbia to sever those ties would be akin to forcing Norway to close its border with Sweden.

5. Giving up on Russia in the face of overwhelming and degrading American hostility to Serbia would be a national suicide.

6. Sanctions were not passed by the UNSC, the only body legally authorized to do so, and run counter to the letter and spirit of the WTO.

7. Did EU sanction US for illegally occupying Iraq and killing one million Iraqis?

8. Russia sanctions could trigger immediate bankruptcy of the Serbian economy and cause IMMENSE deprivation of the local population.

9. Are EU, US, NATO, or IMF going to compensate Serbia for its loses caused by the sanctions? NO, NO, NO AND MORE NO!

Case closed!

Serbia should know it can not have it both ways: being a part of EU (not there yet but is trying to be one) or independent country with its own politics. The treasonous recognition of Kosovo has already happened by Serbia's "democrats", so why not go all the way -- bend over and take it as you are told. You want to be a part of EU or not?

That is laughable. Serbia wants to become a member of the EU, and it wants to tell the EU how to conduct its foreign policy. The joke of the year.

His twisted justification for Putin's occupation of Crimea tells it all. Maybe the serbian people are ready to join the EU, but the political elite which is governing the country, is anything but ready for that. The basic value systems of these people simply are not in line with what people and governments in the EU want. So, for now, any negotiations with Serbia should be stopped until it makes up its mind and decides what side it wants to belong to.

“I think that the comparisons related to the Crimea and Kosovo issues, in terms of justifying Kosovo’s independence, are wrong and they stem from justifying the unjust policy pursued by the international community regarding Serbia,” Dačić said.

I hope Putin didn't hear the words, he was the one who brought up the Kosovo case for justifying Crimea annexation by using the 'pandora's box' metaphor, claiming to protect an ethnic minority against an extremist regime over the idea of territorial integrity, sovereignty of states and bilateral treaties. With the difference, that in Serbia the protection was needed after the atrocities committed by Serbian troops and paramilitaries, and in Crimea no Ukrainian citizens of Russian ethnicity were killed. You can never know if it would have happened, these Ukrainian fascists and their ideas and wording are not so different to Serbian ultra-nationalists.

To sum up: Russia is not credible any more when talking about 'territorial integrity'. To be honest, it wasn't before, there was the (smaller) cases of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The countries which recognized the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo are not credible, neither, when it comes to criticizing Putin over Crimea. There are only a few countries upholding the principled stand not to allow every ethnic minority to create an own state, the biggest one is China.
