I feel better now, did not really expect you to know the birthplace of Muhammed, as some Christians do some don't but I was concerned if a Christian did not know the birthplace of Jesus.
(a New Day, 26 March 2014 02:07)

Yes, the 3 wise men and the Star of Bethlehem :) Really though, I do not use religion as an excuse for my views and do not like it when others do. My beliefs should not be the justification to force others to believe as I do. Whether or not the majority population of an area is a certain ethnic group should not matter. Otherwise, the US would be split in a million pieces. You must respect the laws of the country you live in. In the case of Kosovo, the Albanians did not recognize it as a part of Serbia, did not want adherence to Serbia's laws, or school program, or anything Serbian. Even though it was completely recognized all over the world as Serbian land for centuries and centuries on up to the present and only in the recent past (last 70 years or so) have gone from majority to minority. They felt it was Albanian per their books (and only their books taught this) and they should have their own laws, programs, and basically have it as their own country. They felt that way, and in 2008 they declared independence to make it that way.

It does pain me to see what is happening with the monestaries all throughout Kosovo and the Albanian attempts to erase that history and rewrite it.

Ari Gold,
Stop making a joke of yourself. At 1944 Albania had about one million people. Today there are about 3 million. At the same time there are about 2 million in Kosovo. How could they emigrate and double the entire original population of the country in Kosovo alone, and at the same time triple it in Albania?

Uneducated people make a lot of comments that are just wrong, but I find it hard to believe that a Christian, whether Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox would say that Jesus was born in Jerusalem, he was brought there as a child but he was born in Bethlehem. Also Muhammed was born in Mecca and not Jerusalem.
Now Jerusalem is very important to all three religions for other reasons but those 2 are not among them.
(a New Day, 22 March 2014 13:07)

Yes, Jesus was born in Bethlehem and Mohammed in Mecca. Part of the problem is this stupid 1500 word limit so I can't fully get my thought/point out. The fact still remains that Jerusalem is important to Muslims becaues of Mohammad's claimed trip there and claimed connection to Jewish prophets and to Christians because of Jesus entering Jerusalem as the King of Jews and was crucified there. I apologize for a poor post on the actual birth place.

This is an insult to middle east both jews and palestinians.

We went against one of the worlds greatest army (Jugoslavian Army) for our Jerusalem Kosova. This with ak47's!
(Demi, 21 March 2014 22:35)

I hate to break the news to you, but you did not fight to 'win Kosovo'. NATO did that for you, 19 countries came and bombed for 79 days because you were getting your butts handed to you. Then 9 years later it was basically stolen away and there really was nothing the Serbs could do. Albanians were not being systematically killed off in their fight for Kosovo over the decades, because if they were, there would be none left. If NATO went and bombed the Palestinians in such a matter, or the Jews, they would submit too. They would have no choice.

The situation in Kosovo is like this right now. It looked pretty bleak for Serbs after 1389 too, but for 500 years there was a fight for it until the Sebs got it back. Who knows 50, 100, or 200 years from now how it will look. The landscape and population has definitely changed over the last 60 years so it could very well stay Albanian, break off along ethnic lines, or the political landscape changes and it goes back to it's rightful homeland of Serbia. Who knows....another minortiy could also sprout up and do to the Albanians what they did to the Serbs.

Serbia has a policy that is reflective of a country that views Kosovo as an independent nation. Serbia abolished its ministry for Kosovo and replaced it with an office. There is nothing in Vulins remarks that says Serbia has any claim on Kosovo as a state. Vulin supports Serbs voting on republic of Kosovo ballots and Serbs swearing an oath to the republic of Kosovo when they are elected. In this way it is much like All Christian majority nations recognize that jersalem is in the independent nation of Israel. Serbia has recognized Kosovo independence in every way and there's no one in government who has any territorial claim on Kosovo. Vucic said Serbia has to define its real borders. All Serbs now see Kosovo as an independent nation that has historical significance to Serbs. This is just a fact but all Serbs recognize Kosovo independence now despite the constitutional lag.

Ari Gold

Kosovo i Metohija is not "you", your grandparents largely came to the region to escape Hoxha's Albania because even the totalitarian communist stranglehold of Yugoslavia, it was still a better place to live than Albania. Sadly, the central authorities in Belgrade legalised such an emigration to Kosovo i Metohija. In that sense, it wasn't even illegal. It was however very unfortunate Serbs did in high enough numbers voice their displeasure over such policy.

And since you've been in Kosovo i Metohija, you have managed to ethnically cleanse and outright murder scores of non-Albanian civilians (Serbs, Gorani, Bosniaks etc.) Therefore, you do not have a right to call anything yours. And wont forever.

Ari Gold

(Demi, 21 March 2014 22:35)

You went against the worlds greatest army, the Yugoslav Army?! What are you talking about, the Albanian separatists had the worlds largest military organization to fight on your behalf. All the KLA really did was murder civilians and raze villages while NATO attacked Serbia. Stop acting like you sacrificed anything, because without external support, not even this impoverished quasi-entity could be able to stand.

Serbs have been systematically cleansed from Kosovo i Metohija since the 1970's, countless deaths and over 300, 000 Serbs forcefully expelled in the 1990s (again, from NATO's strength not your supposed will for "your Jerusalem") And that is why Serbs today are only 6-7%, due to Albanian aggression.

This has occurred regularly throughout Serbia's history, geo-political interests from outside powers seek to establish a presence in a region so they take sides with full force. It happens, so Serbia must focus on more pressing issues today, and ensure the survival of the Serbs which have managed to avoid ethnic cleansing or outright death to stay in Kosovo i Metohija.

But that's okay. Global interests change, you have to just wait it out. The last reason for that though is some supposed Albanian power because recent history shows wherever NATO is not there, you lose: Presevo, Macedonia, 2011 ROSU attempted occupation of Northern Mitrovica.

I find it funny when Serbian politicans say that "Kosovo is our Jeruselem"
(Ian, UK, 21 March 2014 19:00)

What is so funny about it? It's true. There is a huge history in Kosovo with Serbs. It's much bigger and deeper than for the Turks, Albanisna, Gorani, Romani, etc....You love to poke and dismiss it as gibberish and rubbish when Serbs talk about the importance of Kosovo. Go there, see it all, there are centuries and centuries of Serbian history. I know, they built it all on Albanian land ;) They invaded and built all that and pushed out the Albanians and only in 1999 did Clinton, Albright, Clark, and company right that wrong! Serbian history is made up there, in fact, it's all mythology. Those Turks, they sure are silly to declare war against Serbia and battle them in Kosovo over Serbia...why battle Serbs in the Kosovo region for control of Serbia? Oh I'm sure there is some Albanian book that will explain that away too.

Jerusalem is an important city for many of the world's religions, but for a people...a nation...it's most important to Jews. Jesus Christ was born there so it's important to Christianity, but he was a Jew...Muhammad was also born there from that lineage, although he is the prophet who brought Muslims to the world. That split in religions essentially brings us to today where both Jews and Palestinians see Jerusalem in the same manner (really really simplified here).

Our most important religious sites are there.Because of that, we love it the most. For us as Serbs, it is our Zion. For us, it served as an inspiring example that we can remain Serbs even while enduring great hardship throughout history. And you know of course that Kosovo also has economic and strategic importance. But most of all it is the soul of our people."

"Without Kosovo," Vulin continued, "I'm not sure how I can explain to my son how we became Serbs, how we remained Serbs, or why we will stay Serbs. For us, our connection to Kosovo is metaphysical, and I think that Israelis can well understand this type of connection. It is not something that can be measured merely in terms of dollars or oil reserves. And in strategic terms, of course, Kosovo is important, if only because a state that recognizes secession on its own territory is a state that will quickly perish. It is like a human being: When the body begins to wither and gets smaller, death may be on the way."

There are many lessons to be learned here.
1. If something or someone is very special to you, nurture and care for it, because if you abuse it all you have left are memories and thoughts of what could have been.
2. If you live by the hand of violence and brutality, do not expect to be able to play the victim card.
3. If you spit in your neighbors face, do not expect to be invited in for tea and cake afterwards.
4. Once you have lost something for good it is time to pick up and move on with your life, a little mourning is good for the soul but if you allow it to consume your life you have none.

This is an insult to middle east both jews and palestinians.

I mean palestinian kids throw rocks at tanks and die for Jerusalem for decades. Serbs would do the same if Kosova was their Jerusalem. But its not since there is only 5 % serbs in Kosova. Serbs are not ready to die for Kosova as Albanians are. That's why Kosova is Albanian Jerusalem. We went against one of the worlds greatest army (Jugoslavian Army) for our Jerusalem Kosova. This with ak47's!

But I agree with Vulin one one thing. Yes Serbia is becoming smaller. If it dies it's up to serbs.

I find it funny when Serbian politicans say that "Kosovo is our Jeruselem" because Jeruselem is a city which is important to lots of peoples such as Christians, Muslims and Jews. Kosovo is a country which is important to lots of peoples such as Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Gorani, Romani ect.

"I can do so in just one word: Jerusalem. Kosovo is our Jerusalem. We cannot be Serbs without Kosovo. That is where our nation was created and our first state was.

--Not only all of the above is a filthy lie but it also stinks of religious fundamentalism. In Vulin and millions of Serbs like him you have the explosive mixture of an ultranationalist fascist religious fundamentalist. He and millions like him in Serbia are a keg of powder ready to explode.

So, now is economic's and strategic? Therefore, Koova is not the cradle of Serbia as claimed till now!?

That split in religions essentially brings us to today where both Jews and Palestinians see Jerusalem in the same manner (really really simplified here).

food for thought

There are many lessons to be learned here.
1. If something or someone is very special to you, nurture and care for it, because if you abuse it all you have left are memories and thoughts of what could have been.
2. If you live by the hand of violence and brutality, do not expect to be able to play the victim card.
3. If you spit in your neighbors face, do not expect to be invited in for tea and cake afterwards.
4. Once you have lost something for good it is time to pick up and move on with your life, a little mourning is good for the soul but if you allow it to consume your life you have none.

From Demi: "We went against one of the worlds greatest army (Jugoslavian Army) for our Jerusalem Kosova."

Hey Demi, were you asleep in 1999? The Albanians didn't go against anyone. Your protectors, NATO illegally bombed Serbia. Your Albanians couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag if they had to. Get real.

Kosovo was handed to Albanians on a silver platter by the west. And what have you done with it? Allow me to answer for you. You have made it the drug running capital of Europe. The gov't. is run by terrorists. Crime and corruption are rampant and the economy can't survive without money from the west. In short, Kosovo is a basket case. Congratulations, you have so much to be proud of.

Serbs love Kosova so much that less than half percent of total global Serb population currently live in Kosova.

Stop making a joke of yourself. At 1944 Albania had about one million people. Today there are about 3 million. At the same time there are about 2 million in Kosovo. How could they emigrate and double the entire original population of the country in Kosovo alone, and at the same time triple it in Albania?
