Frankly, even total isolation for Turkey would not awaken sympathy with me. They have been nothing but trouble since they first stormed the gates of Constantinople. They were nothing other than the bane of Europe for hundreds of years and are the reason why the Balkans were always considered a sort of European backwater. Their murderous sultans drained the Greeks, Assyrians and especially the Armenians of their blood, as well as stolen millions of Balkan and Caucasian children for their janissaries and they left islam seeded in these regions that still shows its horns every now and then, like syphillis, if you pardon the image.

And as I can see now with this Erdogan, censorship of media, "insult to Turkishness", genocide denial and their treatment of the Kurds, they have nothing to do with this continent and are not welcome. End of story from my side.

All he has to do is to commit Turkish army in the US venture against Russia, and they will let him off the hook. I don't think he is that stupid.

“Erdogan” is the Turkish for “hawk”. But most birds as you know have small brains. So everything he is doing for the last few years is a one big mistake. He has already cornered himself everywhere. He has lost Israel as the only ally in the region. He has done the worst stake in Syria and now Turkey has problems even with the salafites, wakhabbites and the Muslim Brothers. A very sensitive problem for them is even guarding the grave of Suleiman Shah in the north of Syria. He has problems not only with EU but what is more dangerous for him with the USA as well. Iran , Armenia and Kurdistan are nothing better for Turkey. What is most surprising he has managed to spoil relations even with Azerbaijan. Now in the end he made stupid anti-Russian statements over Crimea. Thus Turkey surrounded itself with rivals. Meanwhile the internal opposition is not destroyed yet. This is why Erdogan cannot afford things like Twitter often used to overthrow weak regimes. Besides his long term attempts to glorify Ottoman Empire are close to failure. Even in Russia they advertise it with serials like “Golden Era”. Also stupid coz Russia was their rival number one.

Funny thing is that stopping people putting inane comments or photos of themselves on the web is actually more likely to spark protests and action than political repression.

Interesting how in the 21st century there are still totalitarianistic tendencies among the politcal hierarchy in what should be civilised and modern countries.
Russia, Venezuela, Syria, North Korea, China and now Turkey are places where expressions of freedom come at a heavy price. Serbia was close to becoming such a place had it not been for the brave activities of those who oppossed Milosevic.

Not for the interests of the EU elites. You probably forget that Cameron and Barroso called recently for the extension of the EU to include all countries up to Urals.Turkey has made recently substantial progress towards the EU.Visa restrictions were lifted for their citizens travelling across Europe and in November the EU resumed membership negotiations with Turkey (opening two new chapters)despite human rights concerns, criticism over a police crackdown on anti-government demonstrations this summer and ongoing disputes with Cyprus, an EU member. If those negotiations are pursued will be disastrous for Europe. Culture is real, despite what EU globalists may think. And the difference in culture between Islamic and secular values is already only too evident. Islam is currently fighting hard in Turkey to reassert itself and topple Ataturk's secular society. The EU rewards that trend, that strategy, by encouraging them, in effect, to continue to push for an islamic theocratic state in place of secular democratic government. But for all of us who are in favour of dissolution of the EU monster a Turkish EU entry will be manna from heaven.

Erdogan is the best friend that Europe can have. All that needs to be eventually done is the introduction of Sharia Law. That way we can be 100% certain that Turkey will never join the European Union.

This is truly for the best interests of everyone.
