Because the "Ukrainian" embassy is not legitimate or authoritative until the Western Ukraine power vacuum is resolved, its comments are not really important. It does not speak for the Ukraine. Dodik probably speaks for as many Ukrainians as the coup leaders. All events on the ground seem to confirm.
(Leo, 7 March 2014 12:26)

Well, the "Ukrainian" embassy speaks for the vast majority of Ukraine's parliament democratically elected (nobody disputes that, not even Russia) by the Ukrainian people. Who did elect you or Dodik to speak on behalf of the Ukrainians?! Some people here have very bizarre concepts on when somebody can speak on behalf of somebody else :)

Marko, from Wikipedia,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Ukraine

"14.9 percent of believers identify themselves with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyiv Patriarchate;
10.9 percent are adherents of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) (which has the largest number of churches in Ukraine and claims up to 75% of the Ukrainian population[4]);
5.3 percent belonged to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (sometimes referred to as the Uniate, Byzantine, or Eastern Rite Church);
1.0 percent belonged to the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church;
0.6 percent belonged to the Roman Catholic Church;"

Here is my guess of the situation. Those who have seized power in Kiev are Uniate or Catholic and their followers are with the Kyiv Patriarchate. These dominate in the West. Opposition and those who have taken Crimea are of the Moscow Patriarchate. These dominate in the East.

I would also guess that similar partitions occur during the Nazi occupation and earlier in the Holodomor.

English news sites have shown Russian supporters with flags featuring the hammer and sickle. This is a little confusing. I'm pretty sure that the Communist Party is as good as dead in the Russian Federation.

The Serbian Orthodox church is autocephalous.

What about Serbian Orthodox? Are they Autocephalous or of some Patriarchate, or what?

To answer your Questions, there are three groups that claim to be Orthodox in the Ukraine. The largest group is legitimate and canonical, it is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). The other two are in schism led by tricksters who fool good people into folowing them by exploiting their patriotic feelings. In addition there are Roman Catholics, and Uniates as was mentioned below.

In any case Ukrainian Orthodox (the majority of which are in good standing) do not want their Country to be ruled by Nazis, or to be split up, or to be ruled by another country. We can all agree that they didn't start this, they didn't march with the Fascists. We can all agree that they are being forced to take sides, even though they have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Furthermore, Both Russia and the Ukraine are traditional Orthodox nations, we can't pick sides based on which nation can do more for us.

Of all the Serb politicians today Milorad Dodik is the most capable. This guy may not appear to be much but he is one hell of a strategist that has outmanoeuvred every EU high rep and all the rest in Bosnia.

sj, Dodik is too small of a fish for anyone outside of Bosnia to give a sh..t about him. Nobody has the time to waste it on what a village fool is saying. It's not smartness; it has more to do with him being insignificant.

Dodik has that unique ability of foresight and supporting the Russians shows you the brilliance of the man. Russia, much to my delight, has now taken back Crimea and it will never see the light of day in Ukraine again. With the taking if Crimea Russia now controls all of the Black Sea and entrance to the Danube, sits at NATO’s backdoor and will control Turkey together with that entire region.
Dodik rejoices, as most Serbs do, because this means a change of power in Europe – out with the US and in with Russia.
These are realities on the ground not fairy tales like the west keeps telling their people of their greatness only to be proven wrong and publicly embarrassed at critical points.
I hope Dodik runs for office in a united Serbia which will not be too long once Moscow takes over and believe me they will – I watched John Kerry last night at the same table with Lavarov; Kerry out classed completely.

Dodik is not doing the RS any favors picking sides in what could become a civil war between our Orthodox brothers. We should pray for peace and remain neutral and we should not goad or interfere as the west does.

Yep, they are as Orthodox as the Macedonians.
RS is not interering but I would support Russians any time before the Ukranians. Sort of like supporting Serbs before Macedonians who think that Serbian church is to be discarded and a Macedonian one set up even though nobody elese will accept it.
So what exactly makes Ukranians or Macdonians our brothers when they clearly tell us they prefer to break away from the family?
