Death toll[edit]

The number of deaths at the camp is difficult to establish as many inmates often went unregistered as they were taken directly to the edge of ravines and murdered. Historian Paul Mojzes lists 38,010 Serbs, 1,998 Jews, 88 Croats and several "others" as being killed at Jadovno.[1] 1,000 children also perished in camp, as did 55 Serbian Orthodox priests. Mojzes states that the total number of deaths at the camp was 40,123. As it operated over a period of 122 days, this would suggest that an average of 329 people were killed there every day. Sources generally offer a range of 10,000–68,000 deaths at the camp. Estimates of the number of Jewish deaths range from several hundred[1] to 2,500–2,800.[18] The Military Encyclopedia of Yugoslavia estimates that 72,000 inmates perished in the camp.[13] On the other hand, the Encyclopedia of Yugoslavia states that at least 35,000 were killed in Jadovno, with a possible final death toll of 50,000–60,000.[17] The highest recorded estimate of Jadovno deaths was made in 1983 by Reverend Atanasije Jevtić, when he claimed that 80,000 inmates were killed. However, historian Jozo Tomasevich has referred to this claim as being "exaggerated", stating that it is not based on any documentation or detailed investigation.[13]

Why can't you people for once in your lives just say your sorry...is it really that hard ! If the Germans had the decency to apologies for war crimes committed in WW2 so can Vucic.
(Bam Bam, 3 March 2014 12:57)

We are not sorry for anything, only thing we are sorry about that we didnt put enough of you to rest. When will you be sorry for slaughtering hundreds of thousands in Jasenovac?
When will you say your sorry for Jadovno, the only concentration camp in the history for children? It has been 70 years and we are still waiting for your apologies.

I am not downplaying the evils of the Ustase but I hate seing false propoganda being spread just to make Nationalist feel good about them selfeves. It is an injustice to the victims beacuse people will take these evenst less seriously if you falsify details and facts.

If you really were sincere in that long winded soliloquy of your's, then you'd know for all your attempts at separating the NDH with the current Croatian government, you failed to recognize Tudjman all but resuscitated the NDH in the 1990s as some sort of positive moment in Croatia's long road to independence. I'm not the one cheering Serbian nationalism of the 1990s. I'm not the one denying Srebrenica and other crimes committed in Serbia's name. And I'm not the one defending a state in chronic denial of its past, both 1940s and 1990s. Not my fault, nor my problem the country engaging in Nazi salutes and wondering what the problem isn't Serbia/ If you're new to this site, check my posts. They ridicule Croatian and Albanian nationalism - especially from those living far away from the Balkans. Much like what Tito did after WW2, the Hague will try and paper over all this business by finding all parties guilty and asking them to move on and live in brotherhood and unity.

The main reason the Serbian government is counter suing with what happened in WWII is because they have nothing to back them up in the 90s so they dig for the 40's. Those in support of what happened in the 90s are still in power today in Serbia. But where are the Ustase in Croatia besides the Neo-Nazis hooligans which exist in both countries? They are dead. Executed by Tito's men. Except for the bastard monster Pavlic who escaped.

If History serves me correct, Serbia was under a puppet state of their own were they not? Would you hold modern day Serbia accountable for that takeover and what Milan Nedic did? You fail to mention that. Nedic's portrait hung in the halls of Serbian Government up until 2008 when Neo-Nazi marches started taking place.

Thanks Miloš for fixing the comment of that American with arguable Croatian ethnicity.

One could assume you are of arguable Serbian ethnicity looking at your comment history on B92. "Serbian Anthropologist" here I fixed your name to be more accurate. Although BamBam is most likely a blind nationlist, the crimes carried out by the Ustase does not reflect the current Croatian govenrmment. NDH does not equal Croatia. The Usase military men were executed, the NDH was a puppet state (Terrorist State) run by the Usatse(Al-Qaeda), who are a terrorosit group that overthrew the Peasant Party that was in charge afetr the heads of the PP were assasinated by Serbian paliticians which weakend them. They were not voted to power as Milosovic was. Most Croats were with the partisans. I can not for the life of me figure out where Milos got 2 million dead from. According to the Holocaust Museum from 330,000 to 390,000 ethnic Serbs were killed. But what would a Holocaust Mueseum know about history anyway right? I am not downplaying the evils of the Ustase but I hate seing false propoganda being spread just to make Nationalist feel good about them selfeves. Zagreb is a Kangaroo government. No one will win because the E.U want it that way. The Croatian/NDH government knows that what it did was genocide equivalent with Nazi Germany that set up the gas chambers. How many people suffered because of Pavelic's policy of trying to create a Greater Croatia. 2.000,000 people dead and millions forced into exile. Why can't you people for once in your lives just say your sorry...is it really that hard ! If the Germans had the decency to apologies for war crimes committed in WW2 so can Croatia.
