Ned I congratulate you on your dispassionate observations and the rather amusing crescendo with which you finished your piece. Still that's "Bosanci" for you, no matter what religious affiliation they may have, basically they are all the same people. I challenge any geneticist to disprove it.

Whilst I agree with Dodik and largely with EU Dude, let's not kid ourselves that corruption only exists in the Federation. It exists in the RS too and right across the Balkans which includes at least 4 EU countries. There is corruption of course in every country but not to the extent that it exists in the Balkans and not with the concomitant nepotism, which is almost as bad.

As for elections, Dodik is right. To hold them early in the sort of atmosphere that has been created won't help anyone. What is important for Bosnians is not when the election is held but how they vote. If they give the nationalists their votes again and the same tired faces remain in power then they shouldn't expect any improvement in the situation. They should also bear in mind that whoever they vote for does not have a magic wand and that economic progress is a very long and hard road that doesn't involve sitting around in smoke filled offices drinking endless cups of heart attack inducing coffee.

There's no reason to doubt that the protests were genuine and spontaneous. What is definate is that the authorities in Sarajevo, Brussels and the West will do their best to use these events as an excuse to undo the Dayton Agreement.

In fact they have been trying to undo the Dayton Agreement since the day it was signed, specifically to erase the RS. The best thing the the RS can continue doing is increase economic integration with Serbia and other countries and pull in more foreign investement and also invest in local training and education.

RS citizens have nothing to gain from being pulled in to Sarajevo's bottomless pit. Unfortunately I don't see the SDA giving up power willingly. We've already seen that when the federal government was dissolved and then reformed with a new coalition of parties, a number of ministers who's parties were not included still refused to resign. I guess they love democracy as long as they are always in power. Sarajevo is the center of Bosnian corruption and needs to be delt with, but the EU and & US refuse to apply sufficient pressure for them to follow their own constitution.
