Frankly no one has to be a communist to realize that this has everything to do with a corrupt neoliberal powerstructure. No one wants to invest IN ANY MEANINGFULL WAY in Bosnia for one simple reason:there is no point.Like all other Balkan states its purpose is to serve as a market for western produce and cheap labour.True, foreign firms come and set up companies in order to employ a few people for peanuts,or build infastructure which they own,but thats it.We are the best example of what the rhetoric of "free market" really is,that is to say:the most unfree economic system ever in existance. And as for the Serbs being solely responsible yeah, I suppose the guy who wrote a book about the need to create an Islamic version of apartheid would not scare a few people. But,hey who am I to point out the obvious: that religion is often the hand that opens the door for war.I can see that calling me a communist is the best insult you can muster so from sentence I could already see your argument was not going to be very impressive.

Me knock it off?...I advise you to look to yourself.

This is a result of victim and benefit culture where you only have to hold your hand out for free money instead of doing something for yourself.

The West is also responsible for this, throwing good money after bad. Izetbegovic's methods live on well after his death.

At least the RS hasn't repeated these old Titoist mistakes and its position in Bosnia is strengthened.

@ Ned K..Time for bosnian federation to be disolved into RS and croatia, save it from misery, domed to fail.

Love him or hate him but Tudjman had a vision. All Croats in one homeland and all Serbs in the other. Carving up YU especially Bosnia would've avoided all these problems we have in the Balkans. Today's Bosniaks would've have excepted being Croats or Serbs of Muslim faith. But because of Serbia's greed many lives were lost for no reason. If Slobo had just listened the 2 countries would've been so powerful that the E.U would've been begging for us to do business with them and not the other way around. We had the opportunity to be great but we blew it.

Yes Pebbles Croatia has full employment and it’s all paradise in Zagreb. I suggest getting your head out of your proverbial backside and watching some of your HTV.
In Croatia we see every week a couple of hundred more people on the unemployment line and with Croatia holding a huge debt burden there is no way but down whereas RS received much less than your Croatia or Bosnian federation but it did a hell of a lot more with little. Also, Dodik was smart, he allowed the Russians to invest and that is why NO ONE CAN TOUCH RS.
I love watching Croatia sinking slowly into nothing.
PS this so called spontaneous unrest was organised by Germany and the US hoping it to spread into RS – not by Serbs but Muslims. The Serbs knew of this plan last year and were very well prepared.

Time to be devided Bosnia into three parts, Croatian, Serbian-Hungary,and the rest can join the future federation: Albanian(Illyrian),Kosovarian,Macedonian,Montenegrin, and the capital of this federation, Tirana.

Bam Bam, you really need to wake up.
With demise of USSR, west had freedom to do what they want in the world. Prominent economist (I think Jeffrey Sax) declared - "labor in the West is overpaid" in one interview. He then explained view of the wealthy - why would they pay something more if they can get it for less. It's not fair! But how to remove benefits from the people? Through comptetition! "Gobalisation", "global village" and such words suddenly popped up...
How can you compete with someone who works for $30 a month? By working for $30 a month yourself. Did you really think that they care that your standard of living is being lowered all the time? No. Profits are higher and higher, and rich are getting richer. So what if everything becomes third world? Take a look at South America - I see no evidence that rich are concerned about those living in slums and favelas, with no basic medicine or education...
And just try to stop those goods coming in, your Croatia, or any other country would be bombed immediately.
Strobe Talbott was Special Adviser to the Secretary of State Warren Christofer on the New Independent States, during Clinton years. In 2005 he wrote the forward to a book by his Director of Communications, John Norris in which he openly said that Serbia was not carrying out the required social and economic reforms. It had not subordinated itself to the US-run neoliberal programs, so therefore it had to be eliminated. That's from the highest level.

You're truly dope if you interpret the events in the way you did. Knock it off, Lazard because it's irritating to hear such inept Communist remarks. You fail to understand that serbian nationalism is responsible for the division of Bosnia. Prior to that, Bosnians regardless their origin got well along with each other. All of them took pride on being Bosnian. It was the rise of monstrous Serbian nationalism that fucked up such harmony. Srpska Republika, to put it bluntly, is abomination upon humanity. This entity has delayed greatly the economic development of Bosnia. No investor is willing to spent his money in Bosnia because there is no stability and the Serbian nationalism may rear its ugly head again. All serbian apologists seem to forget that serbs are not willing to remain as part of Bosnia: from time to time, they throw warnings for an eventual referendum to unite with Serbia. Your noisy slogan that all nations strive to fight against a powerful elite, does not hold any water, especially not in Balkans where Serbian nationalism is jeopardizing the much-coveted peace. For about 50 years of Yugoslav ''equality'', only Serbia benefited greatly from usurping the common wealth while the rest paid the price (for instance, Kosovo's Albanians where unemployment was alarmingly high - higher in all Europe). As i argued above, EU is not interested to support either politically or financially Bosnia because they are afraid that all investments may go to the chute.

The economic state in Bosnia is worsened because of the so-called Republika Srpska. Every initative of good will for the general betterment of Bosnia has been hampered by the obstructions of Srpska Republika. Belgrade has seized a large chunk of Bosnia which is virtually independent of Sarajeva. Serbs hold territories which do not belong to them. It's worrying that the future of all Bosnian people is held hostage by a bunch of chetnik bandits with Banja Luka as their main holding. The same is likely to happen even in Kosova in its northern fringes. It's up to Albanians to not allow such scenario. If Albanians were smarter enough, they should follow the steps of brave Croats who whipped out the Krajina Republik. Belgrade with his tentacles tries to expand its authority on the expense of other states. Serbian leaders have learnt nothing of the past: they still cling on hope to revive the Greater serbia. I hope that in Bosnia will arise a new political generation which would unite Bosnia into a single state.

I am not surprised that the people are unhappy with the current economic situation and lack of progress made. The country was probably doomed from the beginning with the government structure put into place post-90's war through the Dayton Accord. The country does not have the population size, industry, or resources to be successful on its own individual merits, especially with the two wings of regional government that cannot cooperate or work together. I would term it a failed experiment in government engineering.

Serbia - would you want them back?
(Bob, 7 February 2014 18:47)

No, of course not - they chose the islamic route instead of realizing that they are all former Serbs who converted to islam to avoid paying taxes to the Turks. That's a historical fact. I don't want them, they disgust me, but we have Republika Srpska, which is already de facto part of Serbia, and will be officially soon. What goes around comes around, and I must admit, I am enjoying those riots :) .

Cheers!!

"They care about how much money they are gonna steal. Thats why the elites need nationalist idiots like the ones that started the war,so they can keep people divided. No ,its not some internationalist, secular stretch of the imagination to think such,ITS THE TRUTH! "
(LAZARD, 8 February 2014 01:22)

That contains of truth than 'justthetruth' ever wrote. And people in the Balkans still foll for that and vote for nationalist parties (may they called 'Radicals' in Serbia or HDZ in Croatia) or in general for leaders who still follow the same ideas like Izetbegovic, Dodik or Thaci.

I would term it a failed experiment in government engineering.

federation unrest...music to my ears.Muslims blaming Serbs again...laughter for all to hear. take bake federation some say?....nope..let them wallow in their own gutters and sewers. Serbs...stay vigilant..as I recall Muslims screaming to the world.. better death and poverty as independent rather than being with Yugoslavia or Serbs. So now I say...suck it..suck on that independent federation.

Yes Bam Bam, or should I say Rocky? You alvanians have 10 children per family, no education and then expect the west to provide you with jobs. Bosnians wanted independence and thought they were Schwizerland. You reap what you sow! You are poor and deserve nothing less.

Bosnian Serbs want a divorce from these lazy violent primitives in the bankrupt Federation. It is not Serbian's fault that you are all non productive workshy layabouts who demand state handouts.
