I don't think Albanians have anything to do with this one, it really looks like a Serb vs. Serb scenario. Ivanovic's former buddies probably just released some incriminating evidence about him, after he ran against the Belgrade-sponsored Srpska list in the last elections. This is just another type of old-fashioned retaliation...

It's even more suspicious that this happens shortly after the assassination of moderate Kosovo Serb politician, Dimitrije Janicijevic. Radicals seems to be consolidating their power in Northern Kosovo...again. All that extremist thinking, visible in some of the Serb commenters here, is finding its way into Northern Kosovo and is giving more failed Milloshevic-style ideas to the Serbs there.

I wonder what your comments skender and rocky have to do with the article...I always believed that comments to articles should at least have something to do with the article under which they are placed... I would appreciate if you would improve the quality of your comments! Insulting the male Serbian population doesn't enhance this discussion.

The question really is and remains, as stated before, how come he is being questioned and/or arrested now and not earlier, especially with the election coming up.

If he is innocent he will be released but that will, most certainly, happen after the elections. So who is benefiting from this situation?

skender, the more kids Albanians has already lead them to being poor as economic growth has not kept up with population growth. Another problem is inheritance of agricultural land. Splitting a farm up between 5 sons is not feasible every generation.

I would say you are totally off base but you are probably right about the timing. If you would believe your own news sources you would know that this has nothing to do with the Pristina authorities. But Ivanovic was the close runner up in the last election, and would most likely beat the newly selected Belgrad choice. So who is it that needs him out of the picture? Who is it that has known of his deeds for the last 15 years and shielded him from investigation?
Answer those questions and you will probably find who fed information to EUlEX in time to get him out of the picture at election time. There is a huge chance he will be released if not cleared once the Belgrade choice has been elected and takes office.

"Bishop Teodosije of Raška and Prizren warned that the EULEX decision to launch a cease on Ivanović's criminal accountability is viewed as politically motivated by Serbs and it creates confusion and instability at a very sensitive moment."

Well, nobody has elected Mr. Sibalic to represent anybody or speak on behalf of anybody other than God. Some view Ivanović's arrest as politically motivated, some don't view it as politically motivated. It's up to the judiciary to decide. If the judiciary were to act by how individuals view something, it would be chaos, as every individual would have his or her own view.

Arrest Ivanovic is another provocation deliberately timed the start of the election campaign for mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica, and continued desperate attempts by the authorities in Pristina, that in some way hinder the implementation of the Brussels agreement, which ultimately defines the position of the Serbs in Kosovo and the Union of Serbian municipalities to is their ability to manage their own territories inhabited.

I feel sorry for the Serbs living in Kosovo. It's a hard life out there. Keep on fighting for your rights. Kosovo is Serbia. It's not easy living among Albanian thieves.

As predicted B92's Albanian troll brigade is out in force from IP addresses far enough away from the action to have a point of view as ridiculous as they are ridiculously long (nice post Willi. You competing with roberto for the Loudest Opinion with the Least Understanding Award)?

Forget the fact that Ivanovic is the most moderate Serb politician in northern Kosovo with any credibility among both Serbs and Albanians. Forget he's fluent in Albanian. Forget he has largely resisted pressures from Belgrade to conform to its own narrow-minded outlook on Kosovo's future. No, he's just a big evil Chetnik who can't be trusted and any protests against the apparently just and long-overdue authority of EULEX is testament to the criminal culture of the Serb. Derp a Derp a Derp.

Of course this opinion comes from the same people who are absolutely convinced no one in UCK-turned-Pristina's leadership has ever committed a single crime, and efforts by EULEX to arrest them are a sign that they're under Belgrade's control trying to deflect attention away from their crimes and smear the good name of Albanians blah blah blah.

I'm assuming more comments from the Cyber Illyrian Illuminati will be coming in today with equally well-thought ideas of the matter. Looking forward to the laugh - especially when Kosovo Albanian press is as surprised and shocked at Ivanovic's arrest as Serbian; maybe even more surprised.

the world know that crime runs and rules the north of Kosovo, and people like Ivanovic and the rest of these so called 'serb politicians' there as well as in Belgrade are responsible for the situation to get out of hand. Rule of law has to be established there, and for the sake of the people who live there, it is time that something is done to end this. Anything which is organized and backed by these so called leaders, including the SOC leaders who supported and nurished the crime structures there, is suspicious tom me. Ivanovic most likely is guilty, and as we all found out was not arrested so far because the frensh commander protected him, even the evidence against him was overwhelming. The serb mob can cry now all they want, and would be better off if they stop following these criminals.
