LOL, Balkan Anth., Comm Parr.
you really have no idea of who is who in Kosovo, correct? you have only a superficial knowledge of the reality there since you do not live there and can only read news written by outsiders and filtered by who knows how many hands and editors. This does not prevent you from not thinking before commenting, however. You may want to learn Albanian and look at the news coming from inside of Kosovo :).

Now what do those Albanian newspaperes say? Unemployment only 4%? Standard of llving much higher than in the EU?

"Council for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms, CDHRF said that 10 ethnic Albanians were killed, 25 wounded, 93 tortured and more than 11, 000 forcibly ousted from their homes when Serbian “criminal groups” attacked them several months after the end of the Kosovo war."

Something that has been swiped under the carpet. If Ivanovic is implicated in this - he should face charges! If not, cooperate with EULEX on perpetrators.

Eulex should not stop with Ivanovic. I wish they had the authority to arrest politicians in all of Balkans.
If he's guilty then he should pay for his crimes. If he's not then he should be released immediately.

Everyone is the Serbian list controlled by belgrade supports Kosovo indepenence. Most members signed allegiance to pristina in their oath papers. Ivanovic can't be trusted by Belgrade so they has him arrested so one of their pro kosovo independence candidates can win. Pantic misunderstood everything.

(Balkan Anthropologist, 28 January 2014 14:54)

A bit exaggerated, but why not talking about reality in Europes youngest democracy: People can get arrested for waving Serbian flags or, even more absurd, wearing T-Shirts with Cyrillic letters on it or simply because they 'looked suspicious', while on the other hand the Albanian drug mafia managed to establish Europe's main drug hub in Kosovo without being harassed by police - simply because the mafia bosses, as former sponsors of the 'freedom fighting', enjoy protection from highest levels in the so-called government.

Though I assume if this is EULEX attempting to clean house, I assume they'll be pissing off a good plenty of Albanians in the coming weeks with the arrests and/or indictments they said they're preparing.
(Balkan Anthropologist, 28 January 2014 16:34)

This is true they need to arrest some big shot politicians and this is best way to show as both sides have done crazy things.

Let's wait and see !!!

Any war criminal belongs in Jail, no matter what nationality. Having sad that, I find the continuous attempt to set an equal field between the crimes committed in Kosovo, quite frankly immoral. That is made worse by the failure to issue an official apology to the victims. We know which party was removed in hundred of thousand from their homes. We know which party suffered thousands of dead and lost people, massive graves, rapes and refrigerated trucks full of dead bodies in the bottom of the river.
So if 30% of this party's parliament belongs in Jail, what about the parliament of the other party? Think about it!

There was no reason for albanians to arrest Ivanovich.
EULEX has done that and I don't think albanians are happy with that.I have read their reaction in their forums and they are shocked.
Someone is interested that Serbska list to win in North Motrovica no matter what, and I can asure u albanians are not pro Serbska list.

Probably EULEX wants to stir the waters in order to justify their presence after June 2014.Its just my opinion.

Read again some of the posts you're ahemming on. They don't lay blame on Pristina directly.

Pristina's elite aren't exactly the smartest people in the neighborhood, but they're not that dumb to upset an uneasy but working momentum with the Serbs. Of course if Rexhepi or Hoxhaj say something predictably inappropriate in response, that's their hole they're digging.

Though I assume if this is EULEX attempting to clean house, I assume they'll be pissing off a good plenty of Albanians in the coming weeks with the arrests and/or indictments they said they're preparing.

Indeed. What's even more is that he's the only moderate Serb in northern Kosovo that Pristina could possibly work with. What a way to destroy any hope of cooperation. But then again, this *is* Kosovo, where logic, common sense, and good ideas come to die. This is like arresting someone for jaywalking in during a homicide-burglary. Just when things finally seemed to be going in the right direction in Europe's favorite Balkan pet project, what's the best way to screw things up? You arrest perhaps the only credible moderate Serb leader in N. Kosovo on trumped up charges of war crimes, thereby all but guaranteeing whatever political body the Kosovo Serbs finally end up creating will be as far removed from Pristina as possible.

You do have to wonder at it all. Really you do.

A good sign that politicians in Kosovo do not stand besides the law and can be arrested in case of criminal charges. The bad thing is that these arrests are selective, otherwise at least 30% of the members of Kosovo parliament and government should be arrested.

This guy is being detained for political reasons as he is seen as a threat to the current Brussels agreement and on that point I say to all you freedom living democratic hugging people in the west be very afraid of what the western democracies are doing because it’s a window into what they will do to you.
