First the labor unions stepped out of the Labor Law working group, for unclear reasons. Then when the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy tried to hold public consultations the labor unions disrupted them and forced cancellation of meetings that were planned throughout Serbia. Now they claim they will engage in dialogue not only on the Labor Law but on two other laws that are crucial to get the Serbian economy out of its downward spiral. Hopefully this time the labor union leaders will take the interest of all Serbian workers, rather than the interests of a few non-performing staff of public enterprises and the leadership of two confederations.
