Plus, where does he attribute this? The article says "according to him". So, he's just starting a rumour, basically.

Some Serbs crave rumors, conspiracies, myths and anything else like that which is as far removed from reality as possible.

Serbia must look to the future, we should remember the past and draw lessons from Ney, but should not be held hostage to the past. The ruins in the center of the world's capitals, are of no importance for Serbia, and that space should be better used to improve the attractiveness of Belgrade.

It's been 15 years, what do you want to remember? Milosevic and his fantastic regime or war or Kosovo? Seriously? Besides the building distorts the beauty of the street.
You want to show western tourists the site, ok, you think they care? They'll be like 'screw our foreign policy' and move to their hotel. Why are you so obsessed with showing the world that the west is "evil"? The tourist won't even get why till now the site is just like it was 15 years back!
Seriously you nationalists need to grow up, who says no to such an investment? If you want to remember the war others don't! Others want a normal modern country...
Instead of an abandoned site you get a 5-star fancy hotel where many people will be employed and where many US dollars will flow and you say you rather keep that useless piece of land full of debris for 'remembrance'?!

What the first commentator said.

What kind of world do these people live in thinking businessmen take orders from and make decisions based on instructions from the military?

Plus, where does he attribute this? The article says "according to him". So, he's just starting a rumour, basically.

What's going to happen is nothing. It would be politically tricky for anyone to suggest lowering this bloodied shirt.

As for Michael's idea - you can't fix that building; it's destroyed and crumbling. Scaffolding is built over the sidewalk so part of the building don't fall on people's heads. You can't make this building structurally sound. It was hit with several missiles, not just one.

According to [Trnavčević], Trump wants to build a hotel on the site "because he has the support and an order from NATO to remove this mark of a still unpunished crime."

This is a fair point and something I have not hitherto considered. Perhaps this building should be restored as a military HQ with the gaping hole made by the NATO rocket preserved as a reminder to Serbian soldiers and civilians of what awaits them if they are not properly armed and ready for the next aggression.

what a joke

pre 10 godina

Trump had an order from NATO, what a joke. Trump is noted for many things a lot of flash, building hotels and casinos, the Miss Universe pageant, and of course the many bankruptcies to escape bad business deals. But he has never been known to be a supporter of NATO or any of its activities.
It is a hard concept for people who have lived most of their life as communists and Russian associates but the military does not control people that way in democratic countries.
