Number of asylum seekers increases

As long as there exists poverty and the lack of hope for prosperity people will travel to places that offer the prospect of a better life. This is human nature.
Serbia, Germany, Sweden and the EU should work together on this issue. Scrapping visa free travel for all Serbian citizens is not the answer. The answer is in making it possible for people to build lives and to give them hope.

Dam Chetniks, always have to somehow put the Albanians into the equation! If it is true that Albanians are amongst them, then the reason is Serbia's poor record of providing basic human rights to the Albanian population, their discrimination against them! These policies by Serbia, have been used by radical Serbia for a very long time, and are specifically aimed at driving off Albanians, from thier ancestral lands!!!

Dacic is right, Serbia cannot prevent Roma or anyone else from leaving the country provided that they are in possession of valid travel documents. The EU needs to tell those countries that are 'supplying' these asylum seekers what measures they deem it necessary to put in place because frankly there is little or nothing that can be done. The EU simply has to decide whether or not they are happy for the current situation to continue. Anyone who didn't see this coming should play no part in ANY decisions of ANY importance either in Serbia or Brussels; a ten year old would have guessed what would happen with a visa free regime.

They wanted to live in Serbia's southern province of Kosovo but that's not good enough economically so they are fleeing. If that's true then they should have no problem getting asylum.
Also, why don't they go to "Kosova", you know the country they now have and feel so free in? They country they had to have because of all the persecution under Serbia. They won't need to seek asylum there, just walk in.
