"U.S. does not expect Serbia to join NATO in near future"

The near future? How about NEVER!!!Why on earth should Serbia join a redundant and oppressive military alliance that has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people.

Serbia's decision to be military neutral is the best way to protect good relations between Russia and USA too.

It's as obvious as can be that they WANT Serbia in the EU and they WANT Serbia in NATO. Now you have to ask yourself why do they want Serbia so bad? They dangle these carrots for EU membership to Serbia, only to add ridiculous requirements and concessions that no other country had to deal with. Each time they do, Serbia obliges because they want to join the EU. It never occurs to anyone that the EU countries, the US, and the UK want Serbia in the EU even more than Serbia does. It's not because they think Serbia is a great addition, or that they love Serbia. It's all about control. They control your laws, and more importantly, they financially control your money and resources.

It's imperialism under a disguise. They've learned through history it's much harder to control people through war and violence, occupation in that sense causes rebellion and great empires eventually fall. They figured out how to control you financially and let you think you are 'free'. They will be able to raid Serbia's resources and finances and not have to fire a single bullet! It's not just Serbia, but you get the picture. Next, they WANT Serbia to join NATO so they can militarily control her too and really keep her in line.

It's called the EU, but Germany calls the shots with the UK, France, and the US behind the curtain backing them. It's NATO but the US runs the show. The set the rules and laws, yet it's supposed to be equal.

“at this moment” and “in near future" are the key words …

... when the country has shown it is perfectly capable of doing this entirely on its own.

How can Serbia - in near, intermediate or distant future - join the organization that does not have any?

Wow you were able to figure it out. Most on this site are still under the belief that the EU wants bankrupt Serbia because they can magically solve all EU's problems. And NATO wants them because they are they are the formidable military force that can never be beaten.
The truth is that by accepting them into the EU they can make sure Serbia will no longer be the destabilizing force in southeastern Europe.
NATO wants to insure that Russia does not have a satellite country within their area of domain.
It is all about control.
