Serbia needs to make efforts to make structural reforms, not because of the influence of the EU and possible membership, but for the betterment of all citizens of Serbia. And if and when negotiations begin - no one knows for sure. The bottom line is that Serbia is trying to implement EU standards in many areas of life, not just lip service to adopt standards.

Yes, Serbia deserves to be a member of EU. And she is doing everything that she needs to make the place for reforms. I think that she is moving forward, slowly but truly.

Clearly, the EU deserves to have Serbia as a member, but the EU should remember that Serbia will continue to change since it has been freed from the SFRY and it would not be interested in the EU except that opportunities exist there. Not everything Serbia does revolves around the EU and the EU does not exist to have that kind of relationship with its member countries, else it would not be a "union".
