And remember, too: Not only 'they' (Serbian regime under Milosevic), but Thaci has been on the CIA terrorists list, too.

So what? Nelson Mandela was on the US Terrorist Watch List until 1 July 2008.

(Nikolle, 5 December 2013 11:52)

Nope, you totally misunderstood. I meant that an agreed split of states is okay. And then there is no problem at all with becoming an UN member. Look how it was done with South Sudan, the latest UN member state: accepted in the family of the nations after only 1-2 weeks.

"REMEMBER: At one point, they called KLA a terrorist organization and Thaqi a criminal that they wanted to arrest him but they turned around and made few of the most importan agreements in the recent history of Serbia with the "terrorist". "

And remember, too: Not only 'they' (Serbian regime under Milosevic), but Thaci has been on the CIA terrorists list, too.

And of course the KLA was a terror organization responsible for terrorism, similar to the separatist ETA in Spain. Nevertheless the Spanish government more or less arranged a peace agreement with them, that's why there were no more terrorist attacks in the last decades.

Ari Gold,
All we get is a Kosovo, that in absence of full representation, moves toward an ever close physical, juridical, and economical unification with Albania. Great job Serbia!

I have to agree, it is the funniest thing I've heard all year, to think a govt official in Serbia thinks he has that kind of power. Next thing you might hear how Serbia is going to hand pick the members of the UNSC.
(a New Day, 5 December 2013 14:55)

Come on bro, you know very well its not Serbia specifically, but the support Serbia receives from Russia and China as in regards to its territorial integrity. All you get is a small chair in the hallway AHAHAHA come on thats hilarious you have to admit. I don't even particularly like this guy but that is hilarious.

I know you can admit defeat but dont pretend you are winning when your army in the battlefield is dying.
(Xevdet Hoti, 4 December 2013 22:44)

Actually Serbia's military is still likely the strongest military in the region. This despite many acts of "modernization" Serbia's government has enacted which resulted into a smaller military. Zastava arms actually exports their weapons to America of all places, no other Balkan arms manufacturing company does that. But of course, some people like to confuse their strength with the strength of the forces that fought on their behalf. By itself, Serbia could occupy the entire ex-Yugoslavia even today. Of course it has no interest in that, but Kosovo i Metohija is our Jerusalem and will be liberated again as it has many times in even recent history.

This quote by Stefanovic is probably the funniest thing I've heard all year.

What it was once known as one of the most influential and the stronger country in the Balkan region, now amounts to almost nothing. I will assume that sarcastic statements and underestimating statements such as this one have hurt Serbia more than the Serb politicians admit and Serbian population realises.

It's better to have a small chair in UN corridors than in Belgrade corridors. He shouldn't forget that US, UK, Germany, France are there to support Kosovo. It's funny because every day Serbia talks to those powerful countries and says Serbia's relations with them are OK. Many of those countries will also decide when will Serbia join EU.

Addressing the speculation that a "new Brussels agreement" would follow, focused on "the chair," i.e., membership of Kosovo in the UN, Stefanović said that the government "would never accept it."

And once again: It's not up to Serbia to decide about a UN membership of Kosovo. The UNSC has to recommend a new member state, then the UN GA can vote, where Serbia has ONE vote like other countries.

But I'm sure Russia and China will veto any stupid idea of rewarding an ethnic minority that unilaterally created a new state on the soil of a recognized UN member.

Clearly, this is just a strategy for Serbian politicians to announce the breaking news. This was signed in Brussels back in April by mr. Dacic himself. However, he knew Serbians could not take everything at once so he is giving in at a slow pace. Everything that has been agrees by Serbia has not come out officially yet. Although, it is coming out by lower rank politicians... So when Dacic talks about UN seat for Kosova it is not a surprise to Serbian citizens. Dacic can sure fool the hell out of his own people.

They can have a small chair somewhere in the hall. And when I say 'a small chair' I don't mean figuratively, I mean literally," Stefanović was quoted as saying.

And here we can see the usual boastful arrogance of Serb politicians aimed to humiliate and disrespect their neighbors that has brought oh so many delights to Serbia in the recent past.

They can have a normal chair in the UN, the same size, shape and colour as Russia's and Serbia's once Kosovo becomes an Observer in the UN General Assembly and there is nothing what Russia and Serbia can do to stop it. Observer Membership = 2/3 majority vote in the UNGA and Kosovo said they're going to apply in 2014. It doesn't matter what Serbia will and will nnot "accept". It's not in their power.

Kosovo will never get a seat in the UN, it will allow neither Serbia nor Russia nor China ... It is essential to prepare for negotiations with the EU, adopted the budget and stabilize the economy.
