Here's an analysis of the advantages and drawbacks of South Stream for Serbia: http://www.balkans.com/open-news.php?uniquenumber=185625

Pay attention to the bit about Serbia agreeing to take twice the gas it currently uses and being charged whether it can use it or not. (Gazprom has done that with existing customers.) Also, if the plan is to send this excess gas on to other countries in the region - there are no agreements in place yet about construction of the interconnectors.

I love Russian people and I hope that Putin stays in power for as long as he can because he is Russia's salvation for now.
(Peggy, 21 November 2013 00:26)

Pathetic! I really don't wish it to the Russians to have somebody (whether Putin or anybody else) to be in power for as long as they can. Power corrupts even the most angelic person and to believe otherwise is simply naive. If the Russians (not you, since you have not experienced it) have not learned the lessons from comrade Stalin being in power for as long as he could, then God save them.

You used KGB word 5 times and Kremlin 3 times but for most of the Russians those are quite good emotionally painted words like Ustasha for you. KGB was just Комитет государственной безопасности and nothing else. They successfully fought against our rivals for 70 years but they were not allowed to follow the Politbureau members where the treason took place. Kremlin is another symbol of our statehood and sovereignty. Russians live outside the brain washing zone you take ideas from. We only have 3-4 state TV channels while all the rest mass media are private. So your poisoned posts serve only for oppressing your own complex of inferiority. Also you look funny when you expose your compassion for “the poor suffering Russian people” whom you hate from the bottom of your rotten heart. Best if you keep on calling us as the stupid the idiots ect. But if so why are we so strong ? Have you ever asked yourself why “the poor suffering Russian people” always vote for the KGB Putin ? If I were you I would find a job as only successful people know what love is. If you can do something else but barking at the passing by caravans you may try yourself here in Russia.

.”.a competent court system that is free of influence” My point is that there is no such creature on this planet whilst ever you have a system that is reliant on public money - its not beyond influence. It does not matter whether it’s a Swiss, German or US court, they can and often are influenced i.e “right judge” to hear the matter. You don’t have to go too far to see a great example of that – ICY. Its reality. The BS that is peddled is fantasy.
Companies are registered in certain countries for specific reasons. Some for tax advantages others for lax environmental laws others offer specific incentives etc and so it goes on.
Why register in Switzerland? I’m not sure but it may even be a simple matter that it’s a “neutral” country since France, Italy and Russia are involved. The company could have been registered in Belgium or Italy with no problems.

As far as your second point, I have not seen the contracts but Switzerland is a very attractive place to register a company, and that has everything to do with local laws with respect to taxes and the courts in particular.

Lenard : Thinking they are so smart out doing everyone by building south stream.

The Stream is just a sequence but not the main idea. The idea is to save our Ukrainian lands and it is the only thing that matters. That’s why both Streams are built. They are just tools and it worth of the total USD 80 Bln Russia is ready to spend. All other things are of second rate importance. It is strange the B92 pays no attention to the battle for the Ukraine launched against us by the united Europe. The result of the battle will change the continent drastically. November 29 will show who is stronger today Russia or EU. Then all the things will run different. So the new obstacles they create for Russia has nothing to do with Croatia or Serbia or any other country but the Ukraine. Who cares of the miserable 3 Bln. cubic meters you need for the time being ?

Let me tell you something about business. If the Russians are building two thermal power plants then they already have all agreements signed on paper and Croats will have no say whatsoever – it will be a done deal.
The pipeline is being paid for by European companies while Gazprom delivers the gas – a wonderful marriage. If the west thinks it’s going to screw Russia then they are going to think long and hard. Europe needs lots of gas to run their industries and Russia has plenty. Meanwhile the US is poisoning their groundwater trying to be independent of imports.
Coutries that are friendly to Russia get cheap gas while those that are not friendly, well ask the Romanians how much they pay for gas.

(sj, 19 November 2013 22:26) Wake up sj! wake up! you are sinking in to unconsciousness with your dreaming instead of facing reality. We are not even building the pipe line in Croatia Russia is. For two very expensive Russian thermal power gas plants that will produce electricity for Croatia. So you see Russia will demand no transit fees from Serbia. So the thermal plants can operate cheaply profitably. So their produced electricity will not be overpriced as the Croatians will refuse to buy it then. Any ways the Russians are going to be in for a great shock. Thinking they are so smart out doing everyone by building south stream. Then how do you explain the fact that Al Gore clearly won the election against Bush but Bush became President? Lesson one – there is no such thing as a court free of influence be it in Moscow or Washington.
Second, the company was registered in Switzerland because its partners are France, Russia and Italy so “neutral” territory is best. It has nothing to do a better jurisdiction. This is common commercial practice and you will even find your US companies do the same. If there is a dispute it does not mean the matter will be heard in Switzerland. If the matter of contention is in Serbia, Bulgaria or Italy then that is where it is heard.

Lenard your political oppinions are bad, but your legal oppinions are laughable.

Of course it is headquartered in neutral switzerland. Imagine if it were headquartered in Belgrade or Moscow and there was a legal problem between the partners- Who would deciede - a Serbian or Russian judge under political pressure to assure a good result for his country? No this is based in switzerland as a matter of fairness, and because swiss law is very well developed and recognized for this sort of thing. In the US many companies are headquartered in Deleware for this reason, there is really no better jurisdiction. It is just good business practice to base your business under the protection of a competent court system that is free of influence. Switzerland is a recognized leader in this

Good thing for Serbia that the Agreement was made years before becoming candidates. First they said the Russian deal was no good, now they want a cut of the proffit.

But to comply, I don't See why Serbia and Russia couldn't lease the use of it to anyone willing to PAY.

Lenard

It will be carried out by the Swiss-based joint venture South Stream Serbia. Lol it is a KGB Putin Kremlin shell company in Swizerland. That transit fees will go to then it will decide how much Serbia gets if any the biggest dupes around.

Does Buschle know that Serbia is not in the EU? No doubt an opening salvo in new demands from Brussels seeking to impose upon Serbia and push Russia out of the region. Who says Brussels doesn't bend its own rules in favor of itself? Too late on this occasion.

Comm. Parrisson

Buschle, who was Belgrade for a conference dedicate to promotion of investment in energy infrastructure in Serbia, organized by the Associated European Energy Consultants (AEEC), added that if new energy infrastructure such as South Stream is being built, "it must ensure that a third party can benefit from it."

So what? If Serbia becomes an EU member in, say 2020, South stream will be finished (at least according to the plan), and so it won't count as 'new infrastructure built'.

OMG, stop pretending you are worried about what Kremlin does because it impacts on the Russian people. You have as much love for Russians as you do for Serbs.

Your worry is that Russia will keep getting better and stronger. I love Russian people and I hope that Putin stays in power for as long as he can because he is Russia's salvation for now.

Lenard

Good thing for Serbia that the Agreement was made years before becoming candidates. First they said the Russian deal was no good, now they want a cut of the proffit.

But to comply, I don't See why Serbia and Russia couldn't lease the use of it to anyone willing to PAY.

.”.a competent court system that is free of influence” My point is that there is no such creature on this planet whilst ever you have a system that is reliant on public money - its not beyond influence.

Talk about blind hate and gut reaction rote and Peggy you two take the cake and some others. Live in your delusions, KGB dose run the Kremlin and leavers of power to crush criminaly any one. Have a look at this [link] what they do to get in and stay in power. Putin had less then 1% support but by criminal manupilation murder of inosence lies he became president.

Maybe it's you who is deluded.
Who do you think runs the US, UK and EU?
Less than 1% and is the president?

Throw as much mud as you want at Putin but you can't do anything to get rid of him. How sweet.
