Apis - Yad Vashem? I should now go and research a Jewish groups stats so that you can make your point? How did you sawy so far off topic? weren't we talking about 1991, Krajina, Vukovar and the recent war...and you bring up Yad Vashem as if to bring credibility to yourself?

You said Croatia committed "495,493" more murders than Serbs and basically, until we are even we shouldnt complain? You are ill dude...seriously! Its typical and no surprise as to why you and your people are viewed as crazy by the western world, this is a huge reason as to why Croatians dont want any part of you...it was embarassing for us to be viewed as the same as you!

The funniest part of all this is....why would Serbs even want to live in Croatia? If they want to have their language, culture and traditions, why Croatia...why not Serbia? leave...nobody really cares about what you think...do you think Jews in Israel like Arabs? Ask a Jew if he thinks Arabs should be equal to them in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem or Ashkelon? I would love to know what a jew would say if Palestinians from Jerusalem tried to take over Jerusalem...how they would be treated less than 20 years later. better yet, when you find out please post your comments here for me to read!

This is all really rich coming from a Croat. Serbs are responsible for 4,508 Croatian civilian deaths in this last war; don't argue the number, it comes from Western sources. I'm also going to ignore the Serbian civilian casualties, just for the sake of this argument. Meanwhile, an estimated 500,000 Serbs have been murdered, 250,000 expelled and 200,000 forcibly converted (estimate by Yad Vashem) by Croatian fascists in WWII. The way I see it, you shouldn't complain at all until 495,493 more Croatians are killed by us. I'm aware Croatia has no laws against historical revisionism or Holocaust denial; it's probably where you've learnt all your 'facts'. You clearly don't understand what history is. There are fabrications and there is the truth. The idea that Croatia is 600 years older than Serbia is an lie. Why? Not a single objective source can confirm this. You can't disregard the sources I provided earlier as Serbian propaganda, because these claims don't come from Serbs.

Your command of English is so bad that I must ask when you moved to America if indeed you have.

@Apis - I'm not going to waste my time on a person that can't comprehend recent history...ie...Serbs started a war in 1991 and yet your version is far different than what the whole entire world saw! There is only one explanation, you can't accept the truth and fact therefore, you make it up as you go. Milosevic, the Serbs in the region of Krajina and thousands of barbaric Serbs attempted to take what was never theirs, attempting to recreate the facts, blaming everyone but themselve's and still today, while Croatia has never formally had a war criminal and Serbia has many, you try to change recent history and say Croatia were the aggressors and the Serbs were innocent...and I should debate with you? Impossible to discuss with a person that is delusional!

History is written in many different forms and versions, there is always another version but the challenge is to get to the truth! I could care less about what you choose to believe, you dont even admit what happened just over 18 years ago so how could I expect you to know further back!

Finally, some citations. It's a shame your entire comment is taken word for word from a Yahoo answers page (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101231170736AAEkpuF), rendering it invalid, much like the fictional history of Croatia. Croatia first appeared in existence with the Principality of Dalmatian Croatia in 803 (Croatia — an independent principality - Richard C. Frucht, 2005) whilst Serbia first came into existence as the Principality of Serbia in 768 (Slavs in the Early Middle Ages - Sedov, 1995). The same source also states that Serbs are first mentioned in raids on Eastern Roman territory in 518, but let's just ignore that fact. Given the sources above, this makes Serbia a minimum of 35 years older than Croatia. I personally couldn't care less, but I'm just trying to disprove your fascist propaganda that Croats are '600 years older than Serbs'.

'John', your comment greatly amuses me. A Croat masquerading as an American student asking for help with his homework on a Serbian news site. In addition, there apparently exists an 'American' child who doesn't believe Serbs 'too much since they are known for falsification of history, and raping the history of other nations'. If I were to approach any of my fellow students at university and ask them to point out Croatia or Serbia on a map, they wouldn't be able to. Yet there exists this child prodigy who is for some reason interested in the Balkans at all. You Croats have a really great sense of humour. You've also yet to supply any citations for Croatia being older than Serbia.

Sorry to any Serbs if i'm being sceptic about history Serbs write, personally I don't believe them too much since they are known for falsification of history, and raping the history of other nations.

I live in U.S.A and we got a school homework to do, we have to choose one nation and write something about it.

I'm going for Croats or either Serbs, but I think I should go for Croatia since they have pretty much old history, but I don't know for Serbs, anyone knows something more about them?
I would like to write about both nations, but I don't want to write about 500 years of Ottoman rule, any older and earlier signs of Serbs?

"The issue of their origin has been subject to hard debates, but their roots are still not "officially" known. This book offers a new theory, well-established in contrary to the others (the Iranic, Germanic, Slavic, and Avaro-Bulgaric theories), about who the first Croats were, by explaining how a Turkic tribe disappeared in the north of the Caucasus and appeared in the south of Poland, and then migrated to Dalmatia to start the process of making of the Croatian nation."

The Croatian state was created much earlier than the Serbian state ...

That's a brilliant response to the challenges made on your original bold claim. There's a small fallacy you've made called 'burden of proof'. It is not up to me or anyone else to disprove your claim; it is up to you to prove it. I think everyone here would love to see you try to prove Croatia is '600 years older than Serbia'. Here's a tip: you can't because it isn't. There's a thing called historical consensus and it's completely disagreeing with your fascist propaganda.

Firstly do tell us how Croatia became a country after leaving the Austrian Hungarian Empire in 1918 and which significant battles you guys fought to gain that freedom.
Yes I know your history is 600 years older as you guys go back to the first civilisation. It was the Croat Assyrians that wrote the first texts on clay tablets in Mesopotamia then the Croatian Egyptians built the pyramids following on it was Croatian Greeks that wrote philosophy and mathematics. We have evidence today in Croatia where several Roman emperors were born in Croatia and so it goes on today.
I used to listen to an extreme right winged Croat radio program before it was shut down by authorities and some of the statements that came out were real whoppers to say the least. On one occasion they said that the Potomac River was actually named by Croat sailors that jumped ship and lived with the Indians. Then a “professor” in the Croatian language claimed that Croatians were living and ruling half of today’s Poland and Ukraine.
Considering you guys were around in 1 CE and today there is about 4.2 million Croats in Croatia, then how many were there at the start? 50 million, 100 million? I attended some very good schools and have excellent contact with people in several universities and no one has heard of this mighty Croatia that you bragging about. As an academic said to me once. “it’s always the ones that have no real history that brag about it”.

Croatia remains such a lucky country.. They have joined EU and NATO, they are richer, they have a long beautiful coast-line, they have tourism, they have the west, they were never bombed, they have a small population, they have a good reputation in the world, fewer hooligans and Neo-Nazis. It is not up to me or anyone else to disprove your claim; it is up to you to prove it. I think everyone here would love to see you try to prove Croatia is '600 years older than Serbia'.

In addition, there apparently exists an 'American' child who doesn't believe Serbs 'too much since they are known for falsification of history, and raping the history of other nations'. If I were to approach any of my fellow students at university and ask them to point out Croatia or Serbia on a map, they wouldn't be able to.

Croatia remains such a lucky country.. They have joined EU and NATO, they are richer, they have a long beautiful coast-line, they have tourism, they have the west, they were never bombed, they never had an Albanian minority or a Gypsy for that matter, they have a small population, they have a good reputation in the world, fewer hooligans and Neo-Nazis.. I view it as the luckiest Balkan state after Slovenia.

(Walter, 5 November 2013 15:56) So rite Croatia companys have even bought Slovenias biggest companys. The Slovenians/goverment use to be so proud would not sell to Croatians. Now they are begging us to buy their companys like Mercator we once offered 221 euros per Mercator share in 2011 the Slovenian goverment http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-06-14/croatia-s-agrokor-to-pay-eu430-million-for-mercator-stake.html refused. Just dont tell the Malyasian econimest sj because our companys are also buying out Serbias "biggest". We allready also own over 70% of Bosnia's companys and increasing. Had it read, Petkov, Croats would have thought it was dedicated to their Russian partners that are very involved in their economy.

It's Bam Bam and Walter the dynamic duo again pouring out their anti-Serbian bile and exhalting the virtues of Croatia in all it's fascistic glory. I take it this dimwit Bam Bam would prefer Arab script ?? How shallow can a human being be when they destroy monuments erected to people of merit just because they are written in Cyrillic which looks beautiful on such structures. As for Walter....my friend ( and I use the term very loosely) you need a reality check. EU membership is nothing to most people in it,it is the politicians that need it not the masses.NATO is a terrorist organisation......maybe that's why they joined? The coastline is almost completely owned by multinationals that have marginalised the indigenous population and reduced them to working as waiters and not much else. Tourists only go because it's cheaper than the better alternatives and Serbs quite rightly boycott the place. They have a small population that's at least true....well if you expel 25% of your people you would have wouldn't you? As for reputation...that's rich if you think the infamy of Jasenovac is something to be admired then you need a doctor Walter. Apologise if you have anything about you.
