Incidents in Belgrade during football derby

The rampage in the stands during a football derby in Belgrade on Sunday that injured a number of people "was not entirely spontaneous."

I think the video showed the need for stronger fire hoses. I noticed the water the firemen were spraying couldn't get up to the higher fires and was mostly just spraying the crowd in front of them.

I take my wife and kids to football in Serbia.
You know where the trouble is going to be and you sit elsewhere.
On Saturday a steward asked me if I had a lighter and I said no.
I was let in without a search.
I use matches anyway.
I love football, I went to nearly every Chelsea game home and away in the 70's
Football here is as safe as you want it to be.

Last time I took my kid to a match, it was Norwich. So won't be doing that in a hurry again either!

Seriously though, on the way to Carrow Road I was telling him about watching West Ham in the late 70's. The contrast between the two could not have been greater. I swear, we didn't notice a single uniformed policeman outside the ground in Norwich.

Whatever we might say about the football, we certainly took it back from the hooligans.

If Serbia have tightened up the law like England, he's right to say that its not being enforced!

You can barely get a cigarette lighter into a game in the UK and you will now face a prison sentence for letting off flares and smoke bombs in a ground.

I don't agree with measures that harsh and love the passion and displays by teams in Serbia, Croatia, Bonsnia, Poland, Italy etc. more than the Englaish games I go to, but its hard to justify starting several bonfires on the terraces.

It seems hard to think that anyone would take their kids to a game in Serbia, but then again, if my Watford every play Luton again, I would never take mine to that game!
