Do you think that the Brussels’ agreement is out there for all to see????? I’ve worked in government and for senior government officials for about 20 years and I have never witnessed the release of sensitive agreements to the public. Yes they do release the bits that make them look good but never the sensitive parts. These things take about 30 to 40 years before they become available to the public.

thanks God (the Orthodox one) we have you sj, otherwise we would never know these secrets about how and when governments release or don't release secret documents... I'm sure you have many more useful secrets that could be useful for making some money.

The whole thing was a set up by THaci and his people to please someone or something as prior to this there was never any talk of paramilitary uniforms nor has Vulin ever worn such a garment to Kosovo. Perhaps Thaci is playing to hardliners as I heard that an attempt was made on Thaci but managed only to wound one of his aids??? (not really sure who was hit but guessing).
Regardless making such a move then backing down has left Thaci with a lot of egg on his face.

Sj: I think the point that was being made was not that "Serb officials" couldn't move freely in Kosovo but that paramilitaries could not. Vulin needs to decide whether he is foremost a politician and senior Serb official or a wannabe soldier. I am no fan of Thaci at all, but cannot understand why Vulin is playing right into his hands with this type of publicity seeking; is this the Balkan male testerone at work again?

Thaci made a fool of himself by making ridiculous statements earlier about Vulin. Brussels only had to point out the part in the agreement Thaci signed about movement of Serb officials in Kosovo.
Whoever is advising Thaci should be sacked. He should have said that they have signed an agreement for better cooperation and free movement of peoples between the two entities which will in the long run bring much needed industry resulting in employment and development of Kosovo.
Perhaps I should charge for this advice????

Dacic can carry a picture of Milosevic around Kosovo and your lot would be told to keep very quiet.
Thaci has signed away everything and its moments like this that open the window for all to see if they only open their eyes. Thaci is trying cover over his earlier stupidity by making a statement about wearing a uniform but has now made himself look like a jackass.
The EU’s long term plan is to reintegrate Kosovo with Serbia as it will not continue to subsidise Kosovo forever. Brussels is already grumbling about having to pay for Kosovo since 1999 with little to no change. I would love to have the agreement signed by Dacic and Thaci put on the internet – I mean the real agreement, but governments rarely do that as some parts are very unpalatable to one side and in this case it the Albanians that drew the short straw.

Of course Serbian T-shirts have also proven to qualify as "the uniform of a reservist" in the most democratic, multiethnic, and civilized European country. Vulin wears nothing but black, so unless Serbia has an army of ninjas, Thaci, who is one of the last people in the region to decide what passes as "civilized", is once again sounding like a buffoon.

And just before elections begin. That should the "Serbia" vote :)

Maybe you should view past issues of B92 before you say someone looks like a buffoon. You will find a picture of Vulin wearing fatigues and dressed like a paramilitary while boasting about getting into Kosovo because he was not banned by EULEX. Actually to come in military uniform would be a Kfor matter as he would need permission by them along with the Kosovo govt.

What does he mean "will be arrested if he comes wearing the uniform of a reservist."?

A suit?

Very poor spin by Thaci. Orders have arrived from Brussels and he bends over. Priceless!

ned taylor

In theory a man should be able to go to Kosovo wearing whatever he likes; perhaps a Halloween costume today? However, Vulin is not just an ordinary citizen and it does indeed seem odd (as Nikolle points out) that he should go to Kosovo wearing a uniform as he did on 17th October. (Quite a fetching uniform from the photo!). It is reasonable to conclude that he is a) being provocative and b) would be happy for an incident to occur to boost his party's election chances. We have an expression for this in the UK, we call it a political stunt. Vulin and his supporters will say he is merely exercising his democratic rights but you would have to be very naïve to believe that is the real reason for his style of dress. Let's hope he wears a simple shirt and trousers next time.

Nikolle

pre 10 godina

why on earth would a state official be wearing an army uniform anyway? state officials should dress properly, in suit and ties, not look like thugs. imagine if Thaci was to meet Dacic in a KLA uniform. that would undoubtedly be seen as outright provocation.
