Count, as someone who has personally lived near Detroit and now lives near Newark and Philidelphia, let me tell you that today millions of people suffer and live in what can only be described as fallen and broken cities. Their children attend schools that can not teach them to read, and these schools cost more to run then entire towns cost to run in the balkans. The US is still a rich place, and there is still a lot of opportunity that only exists here, but for many the American dream is only a fairy tale. Look up Strawberry Mansion High School in Philly some time.
