EU official says Serbian energy market "should open up"

Serbia's legislation regarding energy is already harmonized with EU's to a great extent, but it is important for the country to open up its energy market more.

It means the energy market in Serbia should integrate with the markets of the region and the EU. But this is going to affect the complication of an agreement between Serbia and Russia. I'm not sure how this is a good idea.

In EU people were promised competition and lower prices but instead prices went up. Energy companies fixed prices and made price arrangements with each other.

Good idea but, that would mean disrupting agreements Belgrade has with Russia, and as we know, even premier Dacic has stated so, that any mater concerning Serbia and Russia is a sensitive issue, and pretty much off limits. It will be interesting to see how long Serbia thinks it can play on both sides of the fence.
