Sad that he's been put in this situation. Seems I can't get through a week without reading some repulsive news story out of Serbia, Russia or Montenegro having to do with LGBT issues. Get with the times, people. Here in the US, there's a new state virtually every month that approves gay marriage (the law just went into effect in New Jersey this week, and now New Mexico is considering the matter), and I don't see any rioting in the streets. It's been law where I am in Massachusetts for over nine years, and we enjoy a higher standard of living than probably anyone else in the country. Our economy has fared better, our school system ranks well above average, we set the stage for the Affordable Healthcare Act with our own state-sponsored system in 2006...tell me where it's done our society harm to treat our LGBT brothers and sisters as equals. They deserve all the warmth and respect we can give them, especially after all the hell we've put them through down through the centuries.

Well, the people of Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and hopefully other Balkan countries will see this for themselves in the coming decades as they're absorbed by the EU.
