It should be obvious, but you can't really know much about the citizens of a country through the decedents of people that left that country. I'm not going to know much about Ireland by going to St. Patrick's day parades in Chicago.

Strange that you have difficulty with this concept

Strange that you can't come up with a better argument. Well, not so.
Apples and oranges.

So as soon as you leave your country, somehow by magic, you no longer think like a Serb, Croats or whatever. You automatically become a different person.
Do Australians keep a picture of Ante Pavilic in their halls? I think not.

Why don't they count? Are they not Serbs and Croatians?
(Peggy, 21 October 2013 14:27)

No, not really. They're Australians with Serbian and Croatian ancestry.

yes, Peggy. You are wrong. You don't know much about either Serbs or Croats. The people you meet in Australia don't count.

Being part of Axis powers has its rewards. It means E.U membership and Serbs at 4% and dropping. May the gods in Germany be proud of our achievements. There are still a few vacancies at hotel Jasenovac.

Since WWII, the Serbs must forgive and forget, while the Croats don't have to admit their nostalgia for Nazism, WWII onward. Likely no comparable situation anywhere else on this planet. How many Serbs, Jews and Roma slaughtered by the Ustashe hordes? Then, along come the 1990s, and Canada's military witness Croatian hatred in Medak area.

Actually...... I'm a Croat and I don't support Pavelic or Tito. If you think that all Croats supported the Ustase then you Serbs don't really know us Croats at all.

Not all, nobody said it was all but majority.

Now, we Serbs know you Croatians very well. You keep repeating the same hatred and murder decade after decade.
Your Nazi symbols keep coming out which means that the same Nazi feelings are bred into your kids and their kids.

Grobar1,

It's both sad and annoying that willful ignorants like you still come here to voice their fascist tendencies. It's very unhelpful for your own life to base it on blind illusions -even if you would take some secret pleasure out of this, as it seems.

Time has come - better late than never - for Serbia and Croatia to compete in good and constructive matters, not in negative anymore. It only takes some balls to do it -and this is the only thing that gets me to doubt the case. Do Serbs and Croats have courage for progress?

Serbia and Croatia have to take care of their citizens, whether they are Serbs, Croats or any other nationality. Relation between the two countries are burdened by many problems, specially the issue of missing people. I hope that this visit is a signal of good will both sides to solve the problems.

Croatia will never ever be able to make the Serbians trust them.
Soon the Croatian National Consciousness will rise again and show its Ugly Face,
when Croatia comes for Bosnia.

There was a time when the US and Britain absolutely HATED each other. Granted that was 200+ years ago, but there were similar circumstances as with the Serbs and Croats. They also fought a brutal war against each other, it became personal, and it was brutal. The Americans and British also had their own view on that history, who was right/wrong, who was moral, who committed atrocities, etc...that has long been over and the two countries share great relations now. They speak essentially the same language, and I'll go as far as to say there are more differences between American English and British English languages than with the Serbian and Croatian languages. I hope/believe Serbian-Croatian relations can evolve to the same point.

The first step is to admit to your crimes, and while not fully admitting everything I think Serbia is ahead in this area. They have sent everyone to the Hague that was asked and while there is a group of supporters for the likes of Karadzic, Mladic, Milosevic, Arkan, etc, it is a small minority. There are no national holidays or statues erected of these people. Showing videos on Serbian TV about some of the crimes Serbian soldiers were committing was also nice, but they need to do much more of that. Croatia still celebrates Gotovina and Tudjman and the likes, but what they need is to be told the truth about the monstrous acts they did. Also, Jasenovac needs to be pushed and taught, not to shame anyone, but to learn about past mistakes.

'Willing to close the book'.......Ivo when you and your family were sipping on cognac in Munich in 1991 and enjoying the open fire place with your slippers on, other able bodied men were in knee high deep snow with nothing more then a hunting rifle defending their village from unshaven irregulars. You talk about Partizans being such angels then you go and shake the hand of a Chetnik supporter in Nikolic, then refuse to extradite Udbas Lex Perkovic to German authorities for murder and to top it off you preach that all war crimes must be punished. Our German fathers are pissed off with the way your conducting yourself in the public arena. Grow up or get out !
