Nice to see Serbia following the EU's carrot on a stick treatment walking straight into a trap!

The EU is just a wet dream for Serbia!

Serbia needs the European Parliament to individually approve each of the 35 Acquis Chapters which Serbia has been given to close prior to membership.

Serbia will not get a 2/3 majority of MEPs (baring in mind the vast majority of MEPs are very pro-Kosovo) to close the following Chapters whilst Serbia continues to be hostile towards Kosovo:

23. Judiciary & Fundamental Rights
24. Justice, Freedom & Security
35. Relations with Kosovo

Then Serbia will encounter other major problems with the following chapters:

11. Agriculture & Rural Development
27. Environment
32. Financial Control

Ivica Dacic somehow thinks that Serbia will join the EU at an accelerated rate. Well there is plenty of work to do and Serbia had better change their position on Kosovo if there is any chance of Serbia joining the EU. Serbia won't find it easy to close all the other Chapters either.

And I doubt Serbia will be the 29th country to join the EU either because:
1. There won't be one country to join in the next accession to the EU, it'll be a block again; most likely Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
2. Macedonia and Montenegro will find it a lot easier to close Chapters than Serbia as they're smaller and it'll be easier to implement.
3. Serbia has extra Chapters to close.

This support,of course,is coming from a country that is refusing to agree to demands by its own population for an immediate referendum on continuing with the EU membership. So it's pie in the sky to think boy scout Dave would ever give the electorate what it wants .It's not going to happen. They have too many vested interests that override democratic accountability.

So ironic don't you think? http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/09/18/uk-britain-europe-rompuy-idUKBRE98H0ZI20130918
